I believe a new topic could be used for any discussion of how to change from one to another, provided the original HW/SW is no longer available (was done as a service, as for most owners, or by previous owners - on of many)

When I purchased VT, it has been found that ME has been previously used on the ECU, - https://www.versatuner.com/downloads...hecker-GDS.exe
which has for me returned this:



After which I have been provided with another tool (no longer downloadable but I do have a copy) which supposedly "Please use this app to return the ECU to stock:" after which I could install VT.
Thus VT is very happy to crack the ME lock (luckily for me) and overwrite it / change it or what ever the solution was. I suppose the tune is than generated based on original unmodified files and that is written to the car. Its still not clear what the VT exactly does for the "return to stock" option, does it install a clean .bin file on to the ECU or re-installs the previous tune as it was.
I highly appreciate your work, a Moderator should move other posts regarding access in to this new topic.

I don't know what other solutions are there that can "restore to stock"
