CEL Masking

The thread about CEL vs Ready state prompted me to want to clarify what I see as a very easy question, but I don't fully understand.

With the AP and ATR, I have all of my engine codes active (all check boxes are checked), however, I am not receiving a CEL for my missing cat. I have been running without a cat for over a year.

Can someone explain if this is normal, or am I missing something?

Thanks for your help.

Why did you start a new thread?

Next time you search and a bazillion threads pop up this us why ... in the meantime this subject is well covered if you would search before starting unnecessary new threads ...

I started a new thread with the intention to not hijack the thread I referenced.

While you may find this thread unnecessary, I do not. Contrary to your assumption, I did search. Both using the internal forum search and directly through google (site:rx8club.com).

I could not find an answer to my particular question, because it would appear that my situation is working in reverse to the normal.

All the threads I did find show steps on how to mask an existing CEL. I have no CELs masked, and yet I have no CEL displayed even though I have a catless midpipe installed.

So if you happen to have an answer, I would appreciate you educating me.

Thanks.

It's possible to be catless with no CELs. The catalyst test is indirect and can fail.
