CAI and tune

Im currently running the Greddy turbo kit intake (which we all know isn't the best). I'm just wondering how much it will mess up my tune if I decide to route a CAI under the front bumper. Currently my intake temps are over 100 degrees and after adding the CAI i assume they will drop 30-50 degrees depending on the temperature outside.

also, I read somewhere that the piping for the intake needs to be 3.5 inches for the accessport to work properly. Why wont 3 inch piping work?
thanks

You need tubing the same size as stock for the MAF to get correct readings.

oh that would make sense. I never measured the stock one just assumed it was 3 inches.

the maf position of the greddy is so messed up because of the short distance between the intake and the sensor. it also doesn't help that the tube size practically steps down right away after the maf. turbulence is a huge problem.

anytime you change the maf, you'll need to adjust your tune.

what works is a 3 3/8" ID (which means 3.5" OD), which is the same as stock. going with a 3" pipe will lower the max amount of air going in the engine, according to the MAF. That is because the maf voltage will max out sooner at 5V .
