Shawn. Will the adaptronic use the innovative O2 sensor input for closed loop idle control? I’m running only that one and it will not idle. Tried disabling closed loop idle but that doesn’t work either.

I do do not have a neutral switch if that’s relevant.

Shawn - do you know if the supplied RX8 base map was put together on an NA car or a boosted car? Curious as I have been going through it and the ignition timing looks a little aggressive in the boosted regions. Or maybe I am just too conservative

Hi Slash,

The timing table for positive pressure follows suite with the FD Rx7 basemap - I would say for high compression motor the timing is a little bit too aggressive but then again the mapping is all done on an NA car for the basemaps.

Thanks,

Yes it does work but you have to tune the PID gains for any type of results. That does not effect the open/closed loop for the fueling.

My interpretation (perhaps wrong) is that the base map ignition table is modeled after rx7 lower comp motors and they only tested on an NA renesis.

In other words... if running a boosted renesis don’t use the base map above atmosphere

Well I held out for the fully developed version and it should be shipping in several weeks once the new WB-O2 modules are received. Still have to finish out the rest of the engine installation before it really matters though. Hopefully by early summer.

Several weeks? I asked about lead time and they said about 5 days...

Will be good to get a 'warts and all' assessment of how good it is and how well the car runs in all drive modes !

ECU has been in stock, been waiting on the new wideband O2 module to close out the last feature I was looking for. Which everybody else is trying to get their hands on it too it sounds like. Those new modules sold out quickly and there’s a waiting list is my understanding. Since my cars not ready to run I’ve just been sitting on my original order as they continued to develop the ecu. Was one of the first people to order one several years ago and could have had the first version then, but I wanted all the things that weren’t fully worked out initially. Glad I waited.

Any details on the "new wideband O2 module"? Is this the same module that they advertised that would control the stock wideband or something different? If different, what sets it apart from the previous module?

Hi Slash -

The unit currently controls the STOCK O2 sensor with no other modules... But adaptronic still suggests an aftermarket wideband over the OEM since its simply is not as accurate or fast as an aftermarket one.

With that being said the best wideband for the ecu is the Lambda Module upgrade for an additional $240.00.

units and lambda modules are available on my site www.tunedbyshawn.com

Cheers,

Shawn Christenson

Hey guys,

Just got a used Adaptronic ECU from a Purely member as well as a member on here (I can't find his name) and I bought his ecu for cheap as he has I think odd or no readings off the the EMAP and IMAP pressure sensors. I just tore down the unit, got to the pressure sensors and am having a bit of trouble diagnosing the accuracy of the pressure components. Reason being, with the sensor at atmosphere it is reading 4.6-4.7 @ roughly 25C ambient temp, and a supplied voltage of 5V. I began to blow lightly past and into the sensor with no major voltage spikes, as well as using a handheld suction cup tool for removing solder and this also yields no spikes in the sensor. I know its minimum rating is 20kPa (2.9~ PSI) but the value is constantly decending slowly. Even after the "warm up" period the datasheet comprises of.

Anyone that is familiar with this would be an awesome help. About to order two new as its only 18 bucks, but still not sure if these are toast or not.

Moisture found around headphone jack (no clue what this is used for yet)

It has the most control and integration with the Adaptronic - As for speed it just falls short of the Motec PLM CAN wideband which is significantly more expensive.

Potentially could be solder rosin, looks like maybe it was hand soldered. AFAIK it is for listening for knock.

The brown stuff is the rosin, but the white I am pretty sure is moisture. Just wondering why and if it caused an issue. I will only see when adaptronic gets me a new case and I install it in my car which isn't back from the bodyshop yet.

Well out with the old, in with the new. Hopefully this will read correctly. Anyone have a decent recommendation to test this just via usb? Computer at work won't let the driver install or something so I will check it when I get home tonight.

Hey guys new question, trying to load the base map onto the ecu, but for the life of me cannot figure out why the ecu is not being seen in any com port on my pc? I tried reinstalling the drivers with no sig required and still no luck. Or am I missing something?

Edit Edit: So my initial assumption was that the LEDs were a branch off of a complete circuit, not passing power through to the micro controller, but it turns out just slapping on two led's onto the pads proved myself wrong. The leds are in series to the circuit and resulted in powering up the micro and being able to be read in Eugene! So this ECU is now fully operational (these probably fell off when I removed the PCB from the case) and bought it for over half off sellers costs. Couldn't be more happy.

Edit: So there are suppose to be LEDs here. So now I am stumped again. Will keep looking.

So I couldn't get this thing to connect to my pc for the life of me. Checked drivers, signatures, etc. to find out that it wasn't a driver issue at all.

The issue was that the computer wasn't even recognizing that anything was being plugged in. No COM was being assigned to the ECU.

So I inspected it this morning when I got to work to find that there are two missing components on the communications module.

USB port

Two missing components

Does anyone have their ecu laying around that could snap a picture of these?

So it is required or recommended to add the module if I want to install a wideband w/ a gauge?

some PCs I have had to disable the USB driver then just simply re-enable it.
