These guys are full of it, the 270HP claims are calculated BHP (crank) and the tuner said that a stock healthy RX-8 makes 140WHP on that same dyno.

So to be frank yes BHP its def miss leading! But I personally helped his tuner with setting the car up which was a little tricky with how the ports are setup ect. Also the tuner has his own intentions with creating his own Rx8 ECU so its not like they are trying to fabricate numbers.

So with that being said this car made 50 more HP than any other car in the country to their knowledge that figure was done on the same dyno with the 2nd place car. According to the own the car is fast for a N/A.

Well again I’ve seen a pro built stock Renesis engine make that much more over what we generally see posted here on the forum too (typically 160 - 190 rwhp). It is interesting information, just hard to get a direct association with ... the same engines typically turn 265 - 272 bhp @ 8500 on an actual engine dyno, which have been posted on the forum

The tuner claims 205WHP was the number on that run, why he posted the dyno caluclated BHP # is obvious because it took others to chime in and explain to the masses that this was not a WHP number. His argument is that since that dyno typically reads low at 140WHP for a healthy stock RX-8, then his 205WHP should be be 245WHP or so.

But yet I read up on this particular dyno and most shops that run it in Europe claim to love it because it is so accurate, yet the fellas in Greece call it the "heart breaker".

But like everything RX-8, this will probably be the last you hear of it and they will quote these dyno results for the next ten years using the 270BHP figure.

205 rwhp would be a heartbreaker with those mods ...

exactly this. i've seen it in person on an actual engine dyno. this dyno is baffling. why use this one if it typically reads so far off? i know "we" always say "the beginning/ending number itself isnt as import as the amount of change" but this is weird.

Sweet claims. Personally I would have gone with a 3rd throttle body for more flows.

All of this.....and my 8 is still sitting on wheel dolleys in my garage going on 5 years.

Its been a sad state of affairs and has been put on the back burner for far too long. Looking for a tuner that I can trailer the car to, or have someone come to MI to check this out as I don't feel that I have the confidence to work the map and create logs. Still running the first series 1 adaptronic.

I always wondered what happened to your build, I thought you ditched it for the M3.

I still have the 8. She was in storage while I beat up the M3. I sold the M3 two years ago to help pay for IVF to start a family. Im now DD'ing a Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel, which is pretty amazing driving 150 miles a day and still getting about 32/33 mpg freeway.

Still don’t have an ECU yet. Elliott has been letting me hold off on receiving one waiting for the aftermarket O2 hardware version to be completed. They seemed to have been making some progress and then ... nada ... might need to just take it as it is since not feeling much faith in Andy @ Adaptronic living up to all of his big doodley talk

Haven’t even been out to see, let alone work on, the RX8 in almost 6 months; still just sotting there half completed. Wish you SARX guys were local to help motivate me some ...

Team I know you’re looking at a fournport build, but I heard rumors that the current version does not have APV or SSV control. Has Elliot said anything about it to you?

110% you can control the apv and ssv... it's in the tuning air section under the switched air tab. I will be posting up my results here soon of a stock rx8 block with full bolt-ons.

cheers,

shawn Christenson

so what is it that the current version can't do? they make it look like you can run two O2 sensors from the ecu or take externally controled O2 inputs from CAN.

The only thing it cant do is accuracly run the OEM wideband. You have to install an aftermarket wideband. Preferably one that communicates via serial or can since it's more accurate. But you can also run a wideband that has an analog out as well.

I think even Adaptronic recommends the serial connected Innovative wideband sensor/gauge. I have never used Cobb, but Adaptronics is pretty easy to learn.

I'm using the LC-2 in my setup and it was pretty straight forward & easy to install. BTW, as per their FB account, Adaptronic will release a wideband module for the bosch LSU 4.9 sensors soon.

Hi Chris,

The S1 Rx8 Adaptronic Modular ECU now controls the stock O2 sensor - If you do not want to use that sensor there are a couple options:

Innovate or AEM via serial connnection
Haltech or motec over CAN

Last option has not been released yet is the Adaptronic Lambda Module with a bosch 4.9 sensor

The stock 02 is a 4 wire sensor so the ecu is designed to control that and you cannot use an aftermarket sensor with that particular controller.

Let me know if you have any questions - Check out my website www.tunedbyshawn.com I also have an Rx8 Guide.

Thanks,

Shawn Christenson
