never mind that you want it all for free, a little give and take goes a long way

TechnoPsycho87 06-26-2011 12:11 PM

Dude, one your a grouch or you don't like me. Two, how am i being greedy by asking why dashboard doesn't work in atr. That would be like me buying windows 7 upgrade and being charged to find out why my old games don't work

Even though that is not an apropos analogy, you don't see that it would be totally appropriate for a software vendor to charge you for that advice?
You upgraded - there is no "guaranty of merchantability" when you effectively changed your system.

TechnoPsycho87 06-26-2011 01:16 PM

So your basically saying you want me to buy your ap seminar just to find out why my dashboard feature doesn't work, even though I would never have the time to do the seminar. what if it as simple as the wrong driver or i didn't install it in the right order, you honestly expect me to pay over a 100 bucks for that.

TechnoPsycho87 06-26-2011 01:18 PM

if it helps your next reply, i get the connected to pc on the ap when i click connect to ecu, my guess is the dongle driver but i honestly have no clue. also charging money to fix such a simple problem makes you look pretty greedy.

I'm not even offering the seminar right now. I didn't suggest you take it anyway, Team did.

First of all, if it is so "simple", then fix it yourself.
Second, I couldn't possibly give a flying fuck how I look to you.

TechnoPsycho87 06-26-2011 01:59 PM

i don't really care what i think of you either lol. I just finished reinstalling new version of race with no luck, then i manually installed the manager, updater, and dongle driver also with no luck. and I am assuming its a simple problem. if i did a proper install, i would think its something stupidly simple that stopping it from working. Its amazing the progress we are making haha. I gotta say I pretty sure you hate me by now :P.

ShellDude 06-26-2011 03:02 PM

I don't think Jeff was directing any hate towards you. He's honest that way lol

TechnoPsycho87 06-26-2011 03:11 PM

i don't hate him either, I just think he could be a little more helpful.

ShellDude 06-27-2011 09:01 AM

He's helped me quite a bit over the years. From helping locate (and supply) obscure parts to tuning my 8 on multiple occasions. It's likely something in your approach that is causing the fanfare you're receiving.

TeamRX8 06-27-2011 09:30 AM

I was suggesting the seminar for other reasons, which you sorely need separate of the dashboard issue

once you are established as a paying customer and develop a positive relationship you might just get what you are asking for, but whining because somebody who has what you need doesn't give you what you want when you want is taking it in the opposite direction

lastphaseofthis 06-27-2011 10:27 AM

rx8club.com .... the Anti-help forum. Has a nice ring to it.

TechnoPsycho87, i'll probably be in your shoes in 2 days time, IF i do and have a solution, i'll be happy to help you.

TeamRX8 06-29-2011 12:08 AM

people get plenty of help around here, often from the people who are getting bashed for not coughing it up in this instance

oltmann 06-29-2011 02:35 AM

I've read literally thousands of Jeff's posts since I signed up to this forum. He's contributed more information to this board and the RX8 community than nearly anyone. Sure, he's also a dick sometimes.
To paraphrase Whitman, he is large, he contains multitudes.
Just get used to putting "site:rx8club.com" in google, and don't expect a detailed answer to questions which have 40 page threads on them started in 2005.

At the risk of beating a dead horse...

The frustration from a lack of "help" stems from a lack of appreciation of Jeff's position (or that of anyone in the industry that translates their work/knowledge into a business.) Jeff has spent literally thousands of hours, thousands of dollars (perhaps more) as well as risking his own vehicle in pursuit of expanding his knowledge and understanding of tuning the RX8. Instead of waiting for someone else to take the reigns of tuning and hope to garner knowledge, Jeff took the initiative and sought it out for himself.

This same effort can be duplicated by anyone on this forum looking to learn how to tune the car. Complaining that Jeff doesn't help you ignores the fact that you can go learn it yourself, make the same mistakes and spend the same money when you break things.

Jeff's customers pay him (rather modestly if you ask me) for access to that knowledge because it's cheaper to pay him than it is to spend the time and money necessary to get the same level of understanding of the RX8 themselves. Insisting Jeff just spill the beans not only is insulting to the efforts he has made but also to all the customers who paid him for it.

Despite that, Jeff (and many others) have divulged quite a lot of information but if you have the attention span of a gnat you won't find it. That being said, mastering the Accesstuner software won't happen in an afternoon either so if you can't stand the research you won't successfully conquer the program.

Carry on.

Hello,

Does anybody know if the base maps that come with ATR are based on the newest MSP-16 flash from Mazda?

That flash is many, many years old.

The AccessTUNER software is based on the ROMs that were in the field as of 2008 - 2010, depending on the market.

TeamRX8 07-10-2011 01:57 AM

V1.8 is the latest version of AccessTuner Race so it is probably a good idea to request a new copy if you have 1.7 or lower

I saw your post before the edit via iSpy and requested for another ATR download. lol...

TeamRX8 07-10-2011 07:43 AM

Sorry about that :o:

Rote8 07-11-2011 08:59 AM

After looking through the AP map making software, the jump from the Protune will be months away, I will need to go back to square one, if I use the AP.

There is no "boost" variable setting in the AP software.... LOL

Finding other users to request another MM seminar might be a good idea if you didn't attend one already.
Depending on the schedule and time i might be interested too, damn time zones :)
