Apparently, you have NOT done any updates.
The current firmware is 1.5.0.4 !! |
I have updated.. Thats what it updated too. Its not hard to update just plug in accessport and click update, follow the couple simple steps.
|
@ ZOoMzoOm
I think you need to go in to the tools/options menu and select both the download beta drivers options |
ahh, ok i do have the newest 1.5.0.4, At least it says in the "details" button.
Ok, i re-installed the race tuner program, and it now connects. Now since i only have version 2 and not 2B, can i still connect the AP while the laptop is hooked up to watch data on there as well? |
Not giving access tuner software
I live in Australia, but am using the cobb by jeff.
According to cobb they wont support international customers, but the software can work on non us ecu, there just might be some function which arn't available. Im trying to get cobb to give me their access tuner race software, but there toying with me and not doing it. i even provided a us residency " cousins hehe " but still there not replying. Is the software married with the cobb ap or is it universal ? If possible can some1 share there tuner software with me  |
What's the point in having it? You can't open what Jeff sends you and the software won't allow maps from RaceTuner to be uploaded to your AUDM AP.

Reason to having the software, because i want it  and im soon to purchase Hymee SC kit so i wanted it for dyno tuning. Saves a bit of money from having to have Hymee piggyback ecu
Tried it any didn't work, not compatible with AUD cobb. :( That bums me out, i even tried to buy the full version from cobb but they just ignored me. |

It is only $99 more and I end up being the customer's slave for 6 months or so.
Try again... |
Only if you ignore that used APs are selling for $300 in the FS area, your try now

OK. And then pay me $299. You're it. |
Do you have this? I'm having problem downloading from COBB..

The RACE Tuner has a helpful PDF Help file that goes through each and every table and its function, and also gives tuning tips. I've found this PDF actually quite resourceful.
Thanks, Mark |

Thanks, Mark Do you mean a link to the Access Tuner Race? You download the Cobb AP Manager software directly from the website cobbtuning. Beta updates are available from the options in the AP Manager, along with standard and beta updates. You need to fill out a online web form to get a link to the ATR which will be specifically married to your Cobb AP unit. --edit-- You do not need to ATR software to complete your MM Tuning |
Got it finally! Download successful.
I'm very excited to tune the car and I've been reading Cobb's RX-8 tuning guide for AccessTuner Race.*
Do you tune with AccessTuner Race or Professional? I'm trying to see what the difference is between tuning with Race or Pro. What tables do you actually touch in AccessTuner? I'm thinking just calibrate the MAF, Scale injectors, adjust closed loop target a/f if necessary and adjust the different gear fuel tables.* Do you think I should be touching the load, timing tables and other tables?* I found the wiring diagram, and P2 injectors are the middle of the Four. What bank is each set in again? P2 = bank 3**(middle of the tree of 4 injectors) Secondaries = bank 2**(outer of the tree of 4 injectors) Primary = Bank 1

If you think having a 6-month validity period dissuades anyone, think again. My favorite was a customer that DEMANDED a retune last week because they recently went turbo. Their service expired in the middle of August, 2009. |
yes, he is your slave for life, albeit 6 months at a time

Specifics...
Hi again,
Thanks for the reply wcs.. This is for an 04-08 6 speed RX-8... MT. I'm selling my AT.. So which tables should I be touching when trying to achieve reliable 350HP to the wheels using an efficient intercooled turbo kit with proper fuel support... I have a wideband 02 to keep an eye on the a/f while under boost.. I'm thinking about replacing my AEM oil pressure gauge with a pyrometer.. What's more important, in you opinion? The previous owner of the vehicle got the car tuned at a very rich and conservative tune level. Will someone be willing to take a quick look at it? They have Calibrated the MAF, scaled injectors and even modified several tables. However, I don't recall them touching any of the timing tables. Anyway, thanks for your time. Whoever guides me towards the right direction will always have an RX-8 to drive around in SoCal.. :) I don't mind paying for the tuning help, but is there a way to pay and get tuned, and allow you to see the tables being changed as the vehicle is being tuned..? I've had prior experience tuning with Überdata to tune my OBD-1 turbo'd honda.. Pretty straight forward because it had a map sensor and I tund and set the fuel map according to PSI boost... Thanks, Mark p.s. Does MazdsManiac's tuning service teach the customer what they're doing? I'd like to be told what tables were modified and why, etc.

I'd like to be told what tables were modified and why, etc. First thing ... lets not state specific goals quite as high as 350 rwhp. That is a pretty rare club to be in, not many of those in the RX8 community. If you don't want to be flamed in to oblivion keep that number in the 250+ rwhp range with room to grow. Second, you'll need to touch just about all the tables, well a good portion of them and there is no Base FI Tune. The Stock Style map is only good for 2-3 psi, maybe. Third: I would go with an Oil Pressure gauge before a Pyrometer ... if can do both do it, no harm in having more data. Fourth, how do you know the previous owner had the car conservatively tuned? Fifth: Your best bet is to likely have someone do the tuning for you, while you gleam information and knowledge during the tuning process. Spend sometime searching and learning what the tables do by reading the ATR Help file. Guys that will do remote tuning for you: Mazdamaniac: www.mazdamaniac.com - MM does not allow the user to view the his tunes. The tables and tune are locked. His typically MMCS does not provided the user with the details of the modifications being made to the tune and what tables. Kane: www.ppo2performance.com - I'm not sure what his dance is right now, see below. There are others ... Brettus I think does some tuning for his local Kiwi friends. Sixth: Training. Mazda Maniac used to offer a webinar on the ATR and tuning the RX8. I'm not sure if he is still offering it. You can inquire about it, the way it generally worked was he waited until there was enough people signed up. I was lucky enough to have taken his webinar than almost immediately after he came out to my location for a dyno day and I was privileged to learn and watch in real-time. Kane from PPO2 Performance is offering a new type of service, I'm not sure yet how it fits in to everything but it may be an avenue for you to pursue. Check out his website and forums for updates. |
WCS,
Thanks again for the reply. I have the proper fuel support for 350 WHP, so that's why it's my goal. However, I know it's more reliable to stay within the 300-330WHP range.. Can the Renesis even handle it? I'm running an new 6 port engine with MT tranny.. I should update My signature because I have cancelled the AT turbo mod. I just bought a Manual Tranny RX-8 instead. I have a Precision turbo 6265 ball bearing turbo with 780cc injectors in the P2 location. The fuel maps have been done by an independent tuner and was boosting 13psi at 300whp before. I believe with the proper tune and support, it's possible to reach a 300-350 WHP tune, but with th ability to tune down for daily driver use... I'm in the process of looking for a tuner that's willing to show what he's done so that I can have a chance to learn what tables and values have been modified. I've tuned before and it was an amazing feeling to get things right and running optimally. I'd like to gain some knowledge in tuning with Access Tuner race so that I can make minor changes. How can they lock the maps? The values just don't show up or something when loaded into ATR? Best wishes, Mark
