Tried to keep rx8 stock and it way to hard to find parts
So i have had my rx8 for about 3 years and have not really had the time to work on it. Im now graduating high school and have more than enought time to. I want to turn it into a track dedicated car because keeping the stock intake and vacuum system and everything is to much of a hasle to deal with considering its impossible to find parts and oem hoses and **** without spending a fortune. And no im not looking for someone to js tell me to sell it and get a corvette or some bs because im to deep into this and i have always had a love for rotaries. I have been thinking about turboing it because there are alot of kits out there but most of them are sold out or cost a arm and a leg. I have also been thinking about just keeping it NA and doing a bridge/streetport. I understand that no matter what i do its going to cost alot, thats why this is my project car. I just need help getting pointed in the right direction of where to get parts and what is the best choice. Its a 2006 s1 6-port engine in a 05 body(i manual swapped it). I already have a sohn adapter and js got a new radiator. Someone help me🙏🏻🙏🏻
Well for hoses, just go buy silicone hoses/tubes. Its really nothing special, you dont need the pre-bent vacuum tubing. For the coolant hoses get the autobahn88 tube kits (you need 2 or 3 kits if I remember correctly) Most of the other main components you can get on ebay if you have an intake break or something.
The stock airbox is basically ideal. The only upgrades are the racingbeat and the AEM intake which deviate from stock and could have water/rain ingestion issues.
REALLY look into porting, for the most part doing a bridgeport is just for youtube clout until your engine pops. From there unless you really know your port shaping and timing don't port expecting power. Just do the usual cleanup of the runners and edges. BTW if you ever plan on turboing in the future you won't want to port the engine.
The Greddy turbo kit isn't great, but they do pop up on facebook marketplace for about 1-2k and can give you 60-100hp depending. The turbo is very undersized for the engine though and the heat + exhaust pressure will wear out the engine considerably faster than most newer turbo kit designs.

okay, i will look into the greddy kit and also do you have any suggestions for getting rid of the crappy loose hoses on the oil injectors, ik they have something to do with vaccum but i dont trust that they wont pop off, i already have braided lines for the ones that connect the injectors to the omp. I was also wondering about wire tucking the engine bay. I just dk exaclty what systems to remove/keep and where to tuck it and what to use to rewrap it(and yes ik its a pain in the *** but i wanna do it😭
What do you actually want? In 2 posts this went from keeping the car stock, to track ready, to turbo, to wire tucking. It sounds like you want a project, which is fine, but you might want to pick a direction and budget. If OEM hoses are too expensive, I would perish the thought of turboing anything. These cars are also plenty capable on the track without more power, you might want to consider suspension upgrades instead. But also, if track is your goal, just go and drive it. Seat time is by miles the best investment you can make.
