least you guys are out of all wrong doing, thats 50% of what matters, now to get your car fixed or replaced. I'm going with a shitty tune on the FI. base cobalt engine is a small little ECO thing.

that was the first thing that went through my head right before pieces of metal started flying at me. i saw his car lurch forward and then lots of smoke and followed immediately by my metal shower.

i really wish i could write a review about those springs because the more i drove the car over those 4 days the more i liked them. the best part was that they helped with shifting. the car did less of a nose dive when in between gears and it seemed like i could transfer the energy faster to the rear wheels and the car wouldn't nose up as much either.

well, i went and saw the car today. i'll put up a link to the thread i start about the accident.

sorry for bringing back a two year old thread but i'm following this and doing it right now... is it just me or is the 17 mm bolt holding the rear shock in place on there mega tight? like wtf tight... i can't get the damn thing off and i'm not a scrawny guy either. i think im gonna have to run out and get me an electric impact wrench or something.. anybody else had trouble with this? (if they remembered)

I am having this exact same problem and i don't consider myself scrawny either. I can get behind the wrench and use my body against the car as leverage and i just can't break that bolt loose. I've had blots shear off with less. I didn't take off the lower bar like this diy has you doing so i'm wondering if the bolt is under tension or forced into an odd angle. I'm going to try removing it and see if the bolt comes out any easier. If not it's torch time or a trip for an impact wrench!

Having a problem with the front passenger spring on my 2004 gt rx8. I got the two bolts out of the control arm along with the bolt holding in the shock. I also took out the strut bar and took those three nuts out. Shock assembly will not budge though???

Remove the two nuts on each side holding the strut bar and remove it.

Then remove the three nuts on each side holding on the brackets and strut.

Remove the two bolts holding on the upper control arm and pull the control arm out a little from its mounts.

Remove the lower bolt attaching the strut to the lower control arm..

Now push down on the hub and pull the upper part of the strut outwards when clear of the strut tower, get it out past the fender and pull it out.

Sounds like you've done most of this but hope this helps.

Yeah I did do all that I just can't get the assembly out. Do I push it down from inside the engine? I can't get it down past the bolts sticking up into the engine compartment. Uggh

No just push down on the hub assembly.

If you can't push it down enough by hand use a long breaker bar or jack handle and insert it in between the lower control arm and the front subframe and push down. That should give you enough leverage to get it down far enough to pull the strut out.

Back with another question, this one is pretty stupid. I have my (front) springs off and compressed using two compressors I'm borrowing from Autozone. When I turn the nut at the top counter clockwise, it just turns pretty much everything. What am i doing wrong here???
