I had the rear deck rattle, but figured out what it was. You can get to it from the trunk (thats if your rattle and mine are the same).

First, pull out the tire kit and unhook the padding and pull it back. There is a plastic 'plate' that runs from the bottom of the truck all the way to the deck. My rattle came from that plastic piece hitting something on the deck or the deck itself....its hard to see. I felt around there and added some little felt self stick things. Put it back together and problem solved.

What sucks about that rattle is is you cant locate it by tapping or shaking. The car driving down the road hits just the right frequency to make it happen.

Most O rings I know of are soft rubber. I just set them in there and put the gauge cluster back in on them. I think I used some sticky double sided tape in there as well.

Cool. Thanks. I'm doing this today. Also applying eDead to the door panels and might try the trunk rattle fix that was mentioned a bit ago. Today is Rattle Fix Day. Rearview mirror gets the cement treatment later this week!

Only one or two more noises left! :fingersx:

1)I used eDead on the main doors, this helped a little (not much) with road noise, but it did make the Blows stereo sound much better and seemed to insulate the cabin a bit. Cool.

2)I couldn't get my gauge cluster out, but I was able to get it loose enough to shove some rubber o-rings behind it. I think this fixed the dash rattle.

3)I am going to rubber cement my mirror together tomorrow (I'm not concerned as much about this one).

4)Ditched the stock Bridgestones and replaced with Pzero Nero M + S. This made a HUGE difference in noise. The car rides a bit more softly now so a lot of the little creaks and rattles are gone. Plus there is absolutely no road noise coming from the tires. Great buy.

What's left:

Sometimes I get the "marbles in a can" (MIAC) noise when revving the engine past 7k. It's horrible. But it doesn't happen all the time, I'm trying to find the cause and some people on the forum have been very helpful. I'm hopeful that I'll fix it soon.

When I go over bumps or rough roads there is a metallic "clanging" sound coming from somewhere in the cabin. Sounds like passenger side suicide door, but I don't know for sure. Thank God it doesn't rattle all the time. I'm taking the car into the dealer to have the headlight replaced and I'm asking them to look into this.

If I fix both problems my car will be, GASP, RATTLE FREE! :Eyecrazy:

I'm not holding my breath though. Sometimes I miss my Acura....

Zeph: have you ever flushed your coolant fluids?
LionZoo had some luck with the MIAC by bleeding out the coolant system, replacing it with 80/20 mix + 1 bottle of water wetter.

Actually, I didn't flush the system but I did add some "Water Wetter" per LionZoo's suggestion. I want to give it another few days before I post results (don't want to jinx myself). Also, my last fill up was at a station with a sticker on the pump that said they're running 10% ethanol- and it was the first time in 2 months I hadn't run any Lucas UCL in the tank. We'll see... I got my fingers crossed!

any word on this? this is my most obvious rattle (more like a constant buzz). it sounds like it's definitely coming from behind the center air vents. could be the speaker i guess - next time i have it i'll try to turn off my stereo to see if the sound goes away or not. i have a feeling it's NOT the speaker though...

got the same rattle problem too. any fixes for this? replacement audiolink will be coming in and will check out the bose dash speaker when i install that.

I now have a rattle that sounds metallic coming from the front passenger area. Sounds like it's behind the glovebox. It doesn't happen all the time, only on certain bumps and certain days, moon phases, etc. But like all rattles, it's driving me insane. Best description would be to say it sounds like loose change rattling (it's not). Can't seem to find it.

My doors are fixed (fingers crossed and knocking on wood).

My shifter now makes a noise but I know what it is. I removed the plastic piece surrounding it. There is a rubber boot underneath. It squeaks when it moves. I tried lubing it but nothing helped. I hope it goes away. I would love my car if it weren't for all of the BSR's.

i had a couple loose screws behind the snap panel under the steering wheel , giving me fits but a little butyl ribbon after tightening them down will make them stop working out from vibes...

I have the steering wheel/gauge cluster rattle, but my passenger door is the worst. I have to get in there and poke around. Any music with bass leads to a pronounced racket...

Anyone know how long will the dealer cover rattles for? I've got an 05 with 16500 miles and I'm DYING from the rattles.

12 months, 12k miles. So they probably aren't going to help you. Sorry. You can try t speak to the service manager.

Take it off, there is a clip that goes into the rear of the deck from the panel that breaks. Get yourself some epoxy and repair. I used a little foam weather striping on the top of it just for giggles, and haven't had a rattle since. Even with the volume at 40 playing in da club.

I get an extremely anoying rattle when I put my car in reverse and ride the brake. It seems like the entire rear and sunroof when open, vibrates. It is an AT and I did have the engine and tranny mounts replaced around 8 months ago, which was probably 3-4K miles ago. I can't imagine the mounts having gone out that fast. Does anyone know the cause of this and what can be done to fix it? Thanks.

I also have the homelink rear view mirror rattle and now my headliner seems to vibrate since I may have messed it up slightly when taking out the maplights. I did replace the unit hoping this would go away, but it hasn't.

I have a rattle that sounds like it's in the driver side door, but it's in the spot right near the gauge cluster. If I press on the door panel with my leg it seems to get a little better, but it never goes away. I haven't taken the door panel off, and I'd rather not.. just wondering if anyone else has this one...

I haven't had that one, but I know I have read about it.........and it could even be in this thread or there is a link to it in this thread. Start at the top and start reading. It was a pretty good fix if I recall and does require pulling the panel.

I know this will sound crazy...............because I had one coming from what I thought was the gauge cluster and it turned out to be my F'ing visor of all things..........and only when the temp in the garage gets below a certain temp overnight.

I was pushing and pulling on things for about a week before I discovered it. All I have to do it slightly move it in the morning while I'm warming up the car(if it was a cool or cold night) and it doesn't do it. If I forget and start driving, the rattle is there, I reach up and slightly move it up and down in the craddle and it goes away and stays away. WTF? I swear it!

Sorry, I can't offer you any help with either problem. Maybe someone else can. I'm still fixated on the center console rattles, but somebody out there probably has the same issue you do so hopefully they can help.

Yeah I can't stand the center console issues either.

Any updates from those of us that have the rear deck/ rear windshield rattle.

My car has just under 23k, and is an 05. I spoke with MAzda USA yesterday, and mentioned that some people with this rattle have determined the cause to be the rear windshield seal. To that, he told me that even though the car is over 12k miles, the repair would still be covered b/c it is a workmanship flaw that is causing the failure.

This is promssing to those of us with a rear deck/windshield area rattle...BUT, the problem is, upon taking it to the dealer service dept., how do you convince them that the seal is indeed the problem???

It seems as though there needs to be a TSB created as was done for the sunroof, to spur the service dept to attempt this fix.

How does THAT occur??
