DIY: How to clean the MAF.....
Good link to a Mazda6 forum post......
Ninja cleaning.... When it's done this well, why re-do it? Just link to it. S Mod Edit 9/1/2012: Because sometimes that link goes dead :) Anyone looking for the DIY should go here instead, as the mazda6tech link is broken. https://www.rx8club.com/do-yourself-...ean-maf-94872/ |
that is an excellent DIY . Only thing I would debate is the need to disconnect the battery .
Can't see how you could do any harm leaving it connected & it disconnecting it will cause the ecu to reset & the car to idle badly until it relearns the engine . This could inturn make the unsuspecting owner believe he has stuffed something up with the maf clean & who knows where that will go . |
does anybody know where i can get an extra o-ring for the maf? it seems as if mines is getting a big worn out...
|
somewhere that sells hydraulic fittings etc should have one that would be suitable .
|
all i did was disconnect the negative terminal, remove the MAF sensor, take a cotton bud and some nail polish remover and gently clean the filament on the sensor. let it dry for about 20 mins then re-install. i've had no problems so far.

Worked like a charm. The engine loved it upon start up!

There are better RX8-specific photos available since 01-08-2007, to where it is possible to see the wires themselves (not blurry).
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-how-clean-maf-94872/ In the Mazda6 link, he is using the CRC Electrical Parts cleaner. This raises a question because CRC makes a specific Mass Air Flow cleaner, which is what I used. |
this is the easiest DIY and effective.
I can do it once month. thanks |
