Thumbs up DIY: Modified my own shift ****/NOT OEM

So I went out and bought a ball style shift **** for $8 but there was a problem. It came with the wrong thread adapter. So I drilled out the center then took a 1.25mm nut and drove it through the center with a hammer and a bolt about the size of the nut to make sure it drove in straight and tight. I then took my dremel and sanded down a block off the side of the ****. I then engraved RX8 into it then I took some VR touch up paint and painted in the letters the results are here. The **** weighs about 3oz which is much lighter than the oem ****. I also lined up the letters so they face the rear of the car when the **** is installed. I call it my JP ****. This **** helps with being able to feel each gear engage so there is no gear slip or half engagements. So this is my first real customization with a dremel tool so its not perfect but its defiantly original. I might try another attempt and make another design.

No disrespect, but if thats the end result for a shift **** on a 20k+ car, dont attempt to stuff up another one. I suggest ,if you miss gears or cant feel the shift with the oem ****, take off the ski gloves......

um car has 60k on it I was just stating some kind of advantage which helps when car is cold so you can shift smoother from 1st to second so you don't get a cold grind. I just wanted to do something different and will take picture with it on the car. Just so everyone knows there is nothing serious about my shift **** I don't think I have a talent here or anything special but hey make your car your own right lol. Yes I am keeping the Oem **** if I ever decide to sell it.

I know but hey I'd rather this be the worst thing on my car plus you can't really see it unless eye level with it lol. Another part of my design just in case it came out crappy I think next time I will just engrave the letters only. Also Im going to get some black paint and touch it up so it doesn't color contrast as bad.
