I have an 06 with the credit card FOB did the install i got the windows to auto up and down but cant get the opening or closing to work with the FOB. Any sugestions?

Apologies for the revival but this is the only thread that i can seem to find that may work with what i would like to do.
This TR-7 unit can be wired up to work with the windows but would it work with accent lighting?
i have L.E.D accent lighting in various places inside and outside of my car and i have been searching for a way to get them to turn on when i press the unlock button on my key fob but still have the ability to turn them off when i drive.
Can this unit do that or would i need something different?

 

You could wire them in with the door courtesy lights. They come on when you hit the unlock button on the key fob. Then once you enter the car and shut the door they will turn off.

First time speaking, long time lurker. I did this as the first install on my 8 a few months ago and I have to say it is one of the best mods I have ever made. I got sick and tired of forgetting about the sunroof as I often do, and this mod has helped me so very much. Any time I open my car from afar I always get looks. I am very greatful for having come across this D.Y.I. Thank you robbz23 for this. Now, I have to say I did not use the negative and positive as you have, but I will post pics of my finished install and youtube of my windows/roof working. I can not tell you how annoying it was when I would have to get back into the car and turn it on after I have relized that I forgot the sunroof/windows. Now, no more worry about it as all I have to do now is just listen for the horn after pushing the button as I walk away. I have alreay had a couple of people in my development ask me to setup their trucks/cars like mine. For the price, a great and so very useful mod.

 

It's been a while since this thread was originally written and unfortunately the link on Lurch's 'how to' no longer works. It's the same for the 530t manual too.
If anyone can provide the 'how to' and 530t manual it would be greatly appreciated as I'm keen to do this mod on my UK 231 6MT version to give me auto up/down from the passenger switch and both windows from my keyfob.

You're in luck! I archived Lurch's auto up/down windows DIY. Somehow I knew I'd need it one day after it's lifeforce on the internet ceased. It is attached.

I highly suggest you do it. One of the best mods IMO.

Quick question VTChambo about this mod...does it mean that if you press the passenger's side window switch (2 or 3 times) it will also result in having the auto up/down function too? Or, would I need to replicate the fitment of another 530t on the passenger's side?

 

There are a few pieces in this thread that I think you are mixing together. Lurch's original DIY was for Auto up and down from the driver's side window switches (press/lift in car, driver's switch(es) ONCE for down/up all the way).

robbz23 expanded on this by adding the key fob functionality (2 lock clicks to roll up from fob, 3 unlock clicks to roll down from fob) using TR-7s. This is where the 2 or 3 clicks comes into play, not from Lurch's original DIY. robbz23 also added the sunroof control from the fob.

None of these mods will affect the functionality of the passenger side switches. Yes, you would need to wire in another 530t to the passenger side to achieve auto up/down from the passenger side switch. I know there was some talk about this years ago when the the post was new, but I'm not sure anyone actually bothered with the passenger side mod. I didn't.

 

Thanks for that VTChambo learned something there, so that would mean I would still need two 530t's to make the passenger side switch auto & work with the keyfob for both sides as well (that's my thinking) because the vt shows the lock/unlock switch controlling the up/down function for both windows from within the car?

 

Use a (1x) 530t to make the driver's window switches auto roll up/down both windows. Lurch's DIY.

Add (2x) TR-7s to make the key fob roll up/down both windows (and sunroof if you have/want). robbz23 DIY.

Add an additional (1x) 530t to the passenger side door to make the passenger window switch auto up/down the passenger window. Not sure if there is a DIY for this.


You do NOT need the second (passenger side) 530t to allow the driver's side switches or the key fob to control the passenger's side window. The second 530t is ONLY needed if you want to change the functionality of the passenger's switch to perform auto roll up/down on the passenger window. Not a big benefit IMO and why no one has bothered to do that mod AFAIK.

 

Thanks again VTChambo & that's exactly what was in my mind. Whilst understanding your comment about the benefit of modding the passenger's window I often have my wife with me & she is used to it in her Lexus RX400h (when I'm driving), so that's my reason. Am also on the lookout for an electric left hand driver's seat (in black leather) so I can convert the current manual one too.
