wideband sensor questions

Installing one of these babies asap! Like real quick. I thought i would throw out a couple questions:
1- does pre mix have an affect on the sensor life?
2- how do we get by the air pump thing in our car since the ports are on the header itself. Any worries there or is the air pump only used during start ups?
thanks

1. shouldn't

2. what air pump thing? :)

TeamRX8 01-23-2008 09:43 PM

no more need to worry about that one then the OE one

Air pump is useless to us. Leaving it does nothing and taking it out does nothing (though you will get a CEL with no countermeasure in place).
WB is minutely affected by pre-mix, but as Mark noted, so is your OE WB.
The sensor will die from heat long before it does from oil contamination.

As i thought also MM since you are still on the oem pcm off boost do you monitor or check the oem wideband? I wonder what the life expectancy is, as I would think that is very important to us maf pcm systems with boost!

I don't check the OE wideband when in closed loop because I can see via my LM-1 that it is hitting reasonable targets.
If I suddenly started seeing 16:1 or 12:1 in closed loop, then I would know something is wrong and cross reference the OE WBO2S.

BTW - There are actually some load cells of the OE tune that I do address that are out of boost, but are open loop. Mostly 3800 - 6200 RPM and vacuum from -60 to -5 kPa.

this guy claims to have a deleted air pump CEL fix

Or you just tie a 33 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor across the sensor wires through a relay triggered by the air pump solenoid.
Or you use the E-Manage which turns off the sensor during air pump operation in the same way.

there you go, don't know why you didn't just post that in the first place :slap:

MazdaManiac 01-25-2008 08:19 PM

Because I posted it elsewhere several times over the past year.
How many more times do I have to post things before people put two and two together?
