I've looked at the Voodoo site and it makes me uneasy that I have to fax him all my info-credit card number and such. I love the look of the Pearl knob and would love to have it engraved w/ the Rx8 logo that's on the car. Can anyone comfort me?

I got mine from Good Win Racing . They aren't listed under the RX8 section. I had to go to the Miata section to see their selection.

I just picked up mine locally from Performance Buyers Club. I got a Pearl Aluminum knob. The Miata knobs and RX-8 knobs are the same...I checked on teamvoodoo.com

Anyway, look here to order online - www.performancebuyers.com

Are any modifications needed to switch out shifter knobs or can I just unscrew the stock knob and screw on the new one with no issues or gaps between the bottom of the knob and the shifter boot?

Thanks for the help btw!

Josche Feb 27, 2006 02:52 PM

Just unscrew the old one and screw the new one on. I don't remember any gap issues with the stock shifter, but now I have richard paul's shifter, which is shorter.

There wasn't a gap with mine. You can get a collar too if you want but I didn't get it. Looks fine without it.

That looks sweet. Definately going to get a voodoo shift knob know. Know to find get someone to engrave it. I know knobmeister does it and so does voodoo, but as I meantioned before I'm not comfortable faxing my info to them. How hard is it to get knobmeister to engrave them with either the gear pattern or the Rx-8 logo?

Thanks everyone!

Warning: I switched back to the stock knob for the winter. The Voodoo was just too cold for the winter. I will be switching back when the temps are consitantly above freezing in the morning.

rabinabo Feb 27, 2006 09:38 PM

Yeah, the knob is a bit cold, but I just use gloves (which also keeps my hands nice and warm anyways).

the knob is a bit cold in the winter. But knobmeister also sells a little cover for it. which works nice for the winter, and summer time when it gets hot.

as for engraving, to get knobmesiter to do it, and do it right, he will send you the knob, have you put it on, and mark with tape which side is the front and send it back to him for engraving. Otherwise the engraving might be upside down, sideways, or any other wrong way.

And I have bought more than one from him, and had no trouble with billing or sending my credit card number. You could email him, and see if you can call him with your info if that would make you feel better.
