New Exhaust Spy Pic

We have droped off our Project RX8 at B&B Exhaust and they are making a custom cat back and test pipe for our 8. If you aren't fimiliar with B&B thier full name is Billy Boat Exhaust. The company is known for thier Porche and Corvette exhausts in the road racing world. They have worked wiith us before to produce an EVO and WRX exhaust and now prototyping one for the RX8. This is a quick pic I snaped while thier head fabricator was welding up the muffler.

I should have more to report later today as I should have dyno #s and more pics.:D

Digisan 11-11-2003 02:34 PM

Looks good! Do you have a target price?

mikeb 11-11-2003 02:46 PM

sweet
that tip looks HUGE

rxeightr 11-11-2003 02:50 PM

Very clean shop -- impressive. Look forward to the dyno's & sound clip.

moRotorMotor 11-11-2003 03:28 PM

I know I'm not suppose to assume things, but doesn't the tips looks a little too big to fit in the hole of the bumper?

Sin 11-11-2003 04:12 PM

probably 4"in diameter, but double edged so the hole is 3"...should fit fine

savedsol 11-11-2003 04:36 PM

I wish someone would do a center exhaust. Or at least do away with the giant heavy can.

VividRacing.com 11-11-2003 06:52 PM

Here's a few more pics from the B&B shop and the exhaust.

Racing Beat have got something that's quite neat.

If you recall, the picture's of the Rotary Extreme exhaust prototype utilized two smaller muffler cans, only they weren't perpendicular to the car like ever other exhaust I've seen, they were sort of angled back so there were fewer sharp bends in the exhaust flow.

I say for the most performance get rid of the dual tip, and do one straight pipe all the way back. Catless of course.:D

bureau13 11-12-2003 03:30 PM

Probably true, but aesthetically it will look horrible without major body work on the back end.

It's a double edge sword, maximum effeciency with a single tip...odd unfinished look of rear end.

I'm not sold on the split muffler style like in the pic. Seems heavier and restrictive. But I could be wrong.

XDEEDUBBX 11-14-2003 01:25 AM

VividRacing.com 11-14-2003 01:30 AM

Here's a few more pics of the tips...

Full on rear view. Love the look. I don't know why but this pic reminds me of a Star Wars ship or something. You can see the diff with the new paint better in this one too.

Everything has gone according to plan so far. Fitment was good. Gaskets seal nicely. Sounds incredible. Next step...dyno.

and before you all blow a seal...yes, we'll post the #s as well as a sound clip ASAP.:)

mikeb 11-14-2003 02:35 AM

vivid
that looks perfect
I'm interested already

Perhaps a high speed company such as yourself could design a single tip, straight thru design exhaust similiar to what is seen on the Porches AND make a redisigned bumper cover to accomodate such a modification. Tha would be awesome. Maybe even make the exhaust tip rotor shaped just to add a extra flavor of coolness. Costly, yes. Worth it; probably.

Here's another pic...This one's of the Test pipe...

MORE PICTURES!

DYNO NUMBERS!

More! More! More!

VividRacing.com 11-20-2003 02:24 PM

Here's a dyno run. Remember this was done with 19" wheels so the base #s are a little low.

Vivid...

Keep the info coming... Those are impressive HP and Torque gains! The price and sound clip revealing the decel popping (actually not popping is preferable) is what I'm looking for. Might take a fuel remap job to solve the popping/burbling?
Tom

islandsoon 11-20-2003 02:53 PM

BTW Vivid...

I think you scanned the same dyno sheet for both the test pipe and the CAT back system above. Both are showing 12 hp gains where instead the test pipe should be showing a five hp gain over stock and a five hp gain over your new BB system?

Tom
