Turbo and Nitro set up?

I was wondering if anyone had or knows anyone with this set up. I was trying the search engine but I couldn't find any thread. Is this a good idea? I know that people said with Nitro not to go over 75 shot MAX, but with the turbo I'm thinking something small like a "Sneaky Pete" 25 shot. What do you guys think?

mysql101 07-04-2009 08:53 AM

why bother? just crank up the boost controller.

lokoebird 07-05-2009 01:07 AM

What about that INSTANT boost when the turbo is maxed out and its WOT? Has anyone tried pulling that off?

Mawnee 07-05-2009 01:13 AM

The closest I'm familiar with to that(at least in the LSx world) is to put a CO2 fogger on the intercooler to greatly reduce IATs.

+1 on the intercooler spray bar....sprayed a Ford Lightning with it(but we used N20 not co2) and saw intake temps drop and make like 50HP more or so(I think)....so that way you are not taking any more chances with spray Nitro in the motor too just cooling the intake temp off a ton to make more power...

how about keeping the car in the proper rpm range so that isn't an issue? :)

you don't need wot for boost with a turbo...

Svickstc 07-05-2009 04:00 PM

In mine expeirence with Forced Induction turbo applications, nitrous and turbo motors are built differently and mixxing the two never seem to work out that good in the long run...However like mentioned above intercooler sprays and co2 kits help lower IAT with not a crazy amount of hp (depending on application)

Best bet is to turn up boost and have it all in the tune...

stop watching re-runs of Fast & Furious

idk for me i don't think it's safe, if i had money, i would bridge port my engine, get apex seals from esmeril, run a greddy turbo with Mazda Maniac turbo upgrade, or fluid, get it tune with Accesport, run 3in exhaust from agency power, alky injejection. Pulleys, catch can, clutch and clutch reinforcement and flywheel. thats not half on my list i want to do with my car haha

what the hell why not a 20B jkjk

nuke0907 07-06-2009 02:21 PM

nitromethane?

carbonRX8 07-06-2009 02:43 PM

nuclear reactor.

Actually, a GReddy turbo kit and Zex nitrous setup has already been done and actually used successfully.

idk was it you who blew the intake manifold? with nitrous set up? or was that someone else?

Nope, wasn't me. I am the one who has been helping dozens of people around here install nitrous properly on their RX-8s for the past 5 years. Some have even flown me out to their places just so they could have me do their installs for them, and they were never disappointed. Ask around.

Dude what a BAMF!!! lol hey sorry for the thread jack..... anyways what do you think would be better for me? NA setup or Turbo set up as a daily driver/weekend drift car? I had a friend turbo his rx8 and it has gone to Sh!t. My goal is at least 350hp or something close and good power on low and top end.

lokoebird 07-07-2009 01:31 PM

LOL. Fast and Furious...To me, it's Fast and Hilarious!!!

If you want to try drifting I would not recommend N2O. Get a turbo.
And I am the one who blew a couple of intake manifolds.

yokohamaboi 07-07-2009 03:24 PM

I would never run N20 lol but i was trying to say their was some rx8 N/A with 300hp
Or turbo which would be better? and worth the money.

By the way, how did the intake manifold blow?
Is BHR coming out with a metal one? cause if their is, im putting that on my list.

With BHR running on a very limited budget, all I can say is that the development process (for any of the projects on the board at this time) is usually helped along when people buy the stuff we currently offer.

I hate to sound like a drive-by cable TV commercial but that is how things go......

Aw ok :/ thats one part i wish some one would make, and a cable conversion for the throttle.

yokohamaboi 07-08-2009 02:45 AM

theirs a lag when you take off, it take 1sec or less for the computer to process how much you pressing the pedal, with cable it's like instant acceleration when you want it. when drifting no instant power your RPMs drop to low and takes too long to get back up high for the next turn.

california style 07-08-2009 02:56 AM

yoko, the computer throttle also learns how you drive, so it will pick up on rapid throttle transition and learn to make different levels.

Also there is soem dodgy computer thing you can buy to make throttle more aggressive.
I cant remember what its called.

All that does is amp up the voltage that is sent from the pedal position sensor to the PCM. It pretty much tells the PCM the pedal position is higher than it actually is. The same effect can be had by simply putting the pedal to the floor.

I know the accessPORT allows you to make adjustments to the voltage as well.

yokohamaboi 07-08-2009 03:07 AM

The Throttle controller from blitz or buddy club racing?

I actually didn't know that O.o the computer learns how your drive. whoa i learned something today.

So it just opens up the throttle body more. hows the response?
