turbo in a auto?
i was going to supercharged my car after basic trainning ( the army) but i was talking to some people and they told me it will be a wasted of money becouse my car is a 4 speed auto/manual so i want to know your opinion about this if is a wasted of money to supercharged or turbo charged a manual car .... i have a lil of money saved so i think i just going to turbo charged,,,

the 4 port auto makes more torque. there is no reason to NOT turbo the vehicle if you have the money.
i believe someone on these forums has 185whp/242lbs/ft at 6 psi with the stock greddy kit. thats an increase of 50whp and 100lbs/ft of torque. i bet that thing thing gets off the line quickly. |
I think theres more than one 4 port auto out there as well. From the research I've done, you can do it. Just make sure you get it tuned correctly.
|
I would do it if Jeff was my neighbor :)
|
With the Mazsport 300 Series Turbo Kit you would be able to but down almost 275 rwhp. I think for parts, labor, and tune it would cost 7500
|
No reason not to SC a 4-port auto. Phil's SCed 4AT is supposed to be phenominal.
|
BHR is building turbo system that also works for AT 4port. I'm saving my money for it. I think this thing has very good potentials.
|
for the Sc vs Turbo debate, i suggest you search around on this site. there is no reason that you cant do either. pettit has a supercharger kit out specifically for the a/t. there are more turbo kits out there available right now, but you need to do some slight modification to make them work. first i would find a local shop that you trust and discuss with the shop what they feel comfortable doing.
also make sure you have enough cash to afford the kit, gauges, improved cooling, engine management and possibly an upgraded transmission and maybe a new engine. |
Does anyone know how much rwhp Phil's car makes?
|
The people advising you against it are just the jealous type. I will tell you first hand that a s/c 8 4port a/t makes the 8 what it should have been from the factory. Friends have turbo a/t four ports and love um. I place no credence in hp numbers so I don't advertise them, let's just say it will make you happy ether way you go (keep a spare set of rear tires on tap).

If BHR is going to put out a kit, soup to nuts, then I too need to start saving. Any word on availability / pricing?
I need to find a "salivating" emoticon. |
Boy you'd really think theres a salivating emoticon out there somewhere. They think of about everything else.
|
Do what you wanna do!
There are kits out, coming out, or in development right now that are for the 4/AT and all give out a lil bit of something that your looking for POWER! Each varies and it all boils down to what you perfer, the eternal debate of Turbo or SC. Just do research and after your done your mind will be made up. Dont look to us to do it 'cause we'll just make you more confused. |

He has a stock GReddy turbo with a CAI and did those numbers, I was there. It was impressive to say the least, and a little funny. |
