Turbo????

So im thinking about putting a garrett gt-45 on my 8 and i wondering if there are going to be any difficulties spooling such a large turbo? im also probably not going to upgrade any internals except injecters. is this going to be ok?

Wow, geeee I dunno

A turbo on an RX8 ... dude that's fucking crazy off the hook bra

I've never really thought about before and I'm sure no one else has ...

Yup bigger injectors, that's all you need.
Idiot

That's a very large turbo. What are your power goals? I hope you don't think you can get away with just slapping on a turbo and not having any problems down the road with the clutch and tranny at the least.

Do it ! Post it here ! We laugh at you !! Profit !!

This is one of the fields where if you have to ask... you have no business doing it.

User name + unrealistic goals = failsauce.

Go back to loud intakes and exhausts

The GT45 might be small depending on your horsepower goals. Might be beneficial to go straight to a GT55. The Renisis engine and all rotaries for that matter have higher EGTs than regular piston engines so spooling even large turbo's isn't an issue, but because of the high RPM and volumetric flow the engine can get choked for flow if you go too small. Also it's best to spool up the turbo with a very lean mixture to get it up faster. The engine itself should be able to handle at least 1500hp, as I'm sure you've read in you research although as with any FI application it will decrease engine life, but these engines have successful gone 200k+ miles before rebuild so they are very reliable to start with. Hope that helps, please post a build thread to let us all know your progress. We would love to see it when you dyno it, especially through a monitor and not in person.

LOLLOLOOLOLOLOL

That just struck me in the most perfect way.

Btw Garrett has a smart phone app for helping you select the correct turbo

It's not a waste of time! I just want video or at least pics. I can't seem to find anything on youtube with a rotary engine going off like a hand grenade.

P.S. These engines love unregulated wet shots of NOS the ECU can easily handle the extra fuel with your new injectors. Go for like a 300 shot and you should launch from start like a rocket. And again, please post video when you do.

ShellDude 04-01-2012 12:36 PM

300 shot? puff puff pass

wcs 04-01-2012 12:39 PM

You might see the intake exit first before the motor.
But still ... would be a delightful video

ShellDude 04-01-2012 12:43 PM

I read the last time Easy's blew they heard the explosion a mile away!
