I think your a couple days late for April Fools :)

But this and other crap Ebay 'MODS" have been laughed at before. 13HP for $29.00 :)

Actually, it does work..... its the same as the "tornado" its more for fuel economy rather then HP.

yushinrt 04-03-2005 12:39 PM

but in this site even the good shit people say it is load of garbage lol

And how many of these do you have listed for sale??

http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZluvnhrse

Yep, High quality stuff, works on every car for sale since every car has the exact same air/fuel intake system.

All the device is doing it making a funnel effect out of the air thats going into the engine. It does really help. You might see a 1 to 2 MPG effect. Its not much but it does work, I had it installed on my previous car.

bureau13 04-03-2005 01:15 PM

I doubt your testing was rigorous enough to prove it. The thing is junk, pure and simple, if you really DID perform valid testing, then please do post your test methods and your results.

Someone on here actually did dyno a horsepower gain, unlike pretty much every other person or car on the face of the earth...the best theory I heard was that it was messing with the MAF, causing the car to lean out which in this case happened to make more power. I have no idea if the experiment is repeatable, even on the same car, but that's certainly not a path I would recommend.

Take a look at the intake system of the RX-8, first off tell me where the hell can put this crap and how the hell will the magical funnel effect make it to intake ports of the engine and matain it’s “funnel” form? The only way your mileage would improve is having this crap choke off the airflow over 6,000 RPM and prevent your car from going over 60 MPH.

Its placed right after the air filter.

Razz1 04-03-2005 10:46 PM

A freind of mine has it on their Civic. He get big gains from it. Another freinf=d of mine hasit on their Civic too and it works for him.

It does work. The problem is the RX8 has a larger air flow than a piston engine.

It will work on the 8 but you won't see the big gains as piston engines.

You will get 1/2 mpg or more. HP will be a little.

bureau13 04-04-2005 12:59 AM

Stop it for the love of god STOP IT. If you can't prove it empirically then you're wasting your time! EVERY attempt I have ever seen...and I've seen a few...to prove horsepower or mileage gains in a scientific way has FAILED, with the sole exception being the guy on the forum with an RX-8, and I addressed that scenario already. Can we use some common sense here? If it were that easy to take $5 worth of materials and get even minor gains in power or mileage (let alone "big gains") don't you think every automotive manufacturer in the world would incorporate it into their designs from the start? If it were an intelllectual property issue they would have bought out the little guy years ago. Well, maybe they're in bed with the oil people, and GWB, Chaney and Haliburton are preventing this breakthrough from getting into our cars? Maybe its gone the way of the 400 mpg carburetor? Except...well, it hasn't, since I can't find that particular carb on Ebay for $19.99 or whatever the hell this thing sells for. Look, people want to believe there is an easy path to improved performance, and its been shown countless times that if people want something bad enough, its way too damned easy to make them think you can give it to them.

http://www.epa.gov

The EPA tested all of these stupid contraptions a few years ago. (Over 40+ tested). They found that not one of them statistically increased mileage or power, and found all of them to be gimmicks. (Do a search on epa for the products). Everything from fuel magnets, to the tornado, to all sorts of "vortex" devices...all gave zero benefit other then reducing the unsprung weight of ones wallet.

People want to believe anything will help their mileage...because gas is getting more and more expensive. They never seem to realize that just controlling the right and left foot can save quite a bit right there :).

This thread is hysterical.

The creators of the product count on gullible people to buy their product. It just so happens most of them are ricer Civics. And it sound like there could be an RX8 in there too.....pity.

There's one or two ricer RX-8s running around . . . . . . seen them, unfortunately. What a shame.

Tigster 04-04-2005 01:04 PM

If I buy 5 of them and install all of them would I have over 240 hp to the wheels and get 85 mpg?

yushinrt 04-04-2005 04:48 PM

lol tigster lol i don't know ay mabey it will work on some car and some car i don't work i don't really expect to be lot of power but wirth a try lol

juikster 04-06-2005 04:10 AM

How about this one. I think it has some real potential and would make a great gift......

Tigster 04-06-2005 06:24 AM

I decided screw a turbo, I cut a hole in my hood and attached my yard blower into the intake. Now I can go real fast except I only have 100 feet of extension cord. :D

If you got a gas blower you could do something Like This.

Tigster 04-06-2005 06:44 AM

I thought about doing that but I figured my 8 used enough gas, with a gas blower I'd have to fill up 2 motors. And carry 2 different types of oil...

Rxdriftingaction 04-06-2005 04:06 PM

powerseller?

Razz1 04-06-2005 08:53 PM

That's a pretty funny picture!

HiTMaNN 04-07-2005 02:05 AM

i say if you believe you can only follow your heart .. AHHHAHAH!!!!! :) :D

AdictiveRx 04-07-2005 01:48 PM

I actually heard that some of these turbonator things have had had the "fins" or blades or whatever BREAK off and get sucked into the intake system. You can only imagine what the damage can be. This is NOT a risk i am willing to take
