trick midpipe sensor
 

Here in OZ we are barely able to get US parts due to the high price of shipping and customs/taxes etc..

I'd like to know how your tricking the midpipe sensor to run without the cat. We need to start getting things developed. Thanks

Halfway down the page they sell the O2 simulator for $29.95 which tricks the ecu.

You guys in Oz are lucky you don't have the testing we do whe it comes to inspections. I would think that if the ecu did not sense there was anything wrong, that the car would still pass inspection. At least here in Texas it would. The cars with the OBDII port just get plugged in at the inspection station and if the ecu says everything is OK, they pass you. It worked on my friend's 2002 Z-28 since he removed the cats and installed the simulators. He passed inspection just fine. If we had a visual inspection here he would have failed.

We have mobile "EPA" or Emission testing stations. They actually setup on the side of the road and around car event weekends and do proper sound/emissions testing. Its pretty strict and holds big penalties such as $10,000 for no cat. They do however give you 28 days to fix the problem =)

also for the second O2 sensor, you can have a 90 degree bend of a smaller pipe come out... then forward about 3-4 inches.

Weld 02 sensor bung on that and insert rear O2 sensor.

Worked wonderfully on my old WRX that put out 340hp. No electronics were required. YMMV, but I haven't seen anything like this for the RX8, but then again, it would be an off-road racing application ONLY.

But then again, electronics are much easier when dealing with limited time at the track.

Damn. The rules are much stricter down there than I had heard.

Is there more than 1 O2 sensor in the mid pipe? I don't understand why you need the simulator?

There are two O2 sensors.
The ECU monitors them for differential levels and generates a check engine if it can't read one of the O2's.
