torn...where to go now???

ok i'm sure there are some other post like this....searched but didn't find exactly what i'm looking for...

only performance modification i have so far is the turbo xs catback...i'm getting the midpipe in about two weeks when they get the gaskets in unless one shows up on this site...

i am planning ongoing FI in the next year...just slowly saving for that...so i guess i should start working on my susp....not sure if springs before sways...i don't want to get coilovers yet...just no idea where to go...i feel like getting some pulleys would be a waste of $$$ right now...any ideas...thoughts...sorry if there are a thousand post already like this somewhere!!

Mazmart Water Pump & Radiator.

tskeltonPGA 04-17-2008 04:33 PM

really??? staticlag why would you say that over say sways or springs?

tskeltonPGA 04-17-2008 04:35 PM

yes i am doing some research as we speak...i can't find the water pump on their website

tskeltonPGA 04-17-2008 04:37 PM

ok found it on there website...need to do some research on cavitation i guess...not too familiar with that term...

swoope 04-18-2008 04:14 AM

ok,

fi does not have anything to do with handling.

got that!!!

so do you want to turn or go fi?????

fi do cooling mods.

fun right now. rp short shifter.

but what do i know.

beers

tskeltonPGA 04-18-2008 06:59 AM

fun right now is what i want...but eventually i want FI...so hmm....guess i've got some thinking to do...you know plenty...don't throw that bullshit line out that you do all the time!

Charles R. Hill 04-18-2008 07:24 AM

Others seem to be satisfied with my suggestions(in this order) of swaybars(to firm up the response and control the wheelhop), springs(to continue along the same idea), a light flywheel and new clutch(to lighten the rotating mass and prepare for F/I), and a Cobb AccessPort,or similar, (in order to get a nice tune for more power and use for F/I later). The Axial Flow Short Shifter, as Scott suggested, is also a cool mod that is easy to install and relatively inexpensive.

Once you order your F/I kit also order a new rad and water pump at the same time.

charles thats a lot...i think i will def. wait on the h2o pump and radiator til i go FI...i think i like the idea of sways alot...gonna do some research and pic some out...thanks!

I can get the Progress Techs for $265, shipped, and they are 3-way adjustable. I may swap in a set, myself, as I have the Racing Beat bars(which I LOVE) but I gotta get my own car some luv from BHR.:lol2:

tskeltonPGA 04-18-2008 07:39 AM

hey i know you wanna show your car some black halo love but let me know when you swap out if you are interested in selling the racing beats...from what i can find it seems as if the racing beat sways are the most stiff by far...am i correct on that...can you get the progress techs front AND rear for $265 shipped?

why would you assume i thought that it did?

Charles R. Hill 04-18-2008 07:42 AM

I believe I have the best price available on the ProTechs at my current offering of $265 for BOTH front and rear and BHR's price list always includes shipping to the 48 states.

I'd be happy to sell you my RB bars but they are not the stiffest on the market(just very comfortable) as they are generally 20% over stock.

tskeltonPGA 04-18-2008 07:43 AM

what are the stiffest on the market...i thought the sways sways and more sways thread said they were like 108% stiffer than stock?

Charles R. Hill 04-18-2008 07:45 AM

I could be wrong about the percentage but I know that RB's corporate stance is to not get too radical with their departure from stock values. I'll go review that thread.......BRB.

tskeltonPGA 04-18-2008 07:48 AM

k sounds good...thanks a lot man...glad to know i'm not the only one that doesn't sleep!

Charles R. Hill 04-18-2008 07:54 AM

I just read through that thread and it seems that the ProTechs are a little stiffer at their harshest setting than the RBs are. Due to differences in design and manufacturing you can't assume any stiffness ratings from one brand to another simply based on those parameters. That was mentioned(and is correct) in post number 3 or 4. I trust what TeamRX8 has to say about this stuff. I hope you get paid for this like I do!:lol2:

tskeltonPGA 04-18-2008 08:00 AM

nah man i sure wish i did!!! so if i'm wanting to go with the stiffest sways are the protechs the way to go? they seem price wise like the best...what do you think?

tskeltonPGA 04-18-2008 08:09 AM

how do i go about getting paid for that
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?

california style 04-18-2008 08:32 AM

Super stiff isnt always good though is it? (unless its the correct part at the correct time if you get my drift)

devildog1679 04-18-2008 08:33 AM

I would go with springs, shocks, and sways. Makes the car feel much different, one day you may want to track your car and a suspension upgrade is a plus but not a must.

staticlag 04-18-2008 08:58 AM

sways are good, but they are easiest to do when you are swapping the radiator.

Charles R. Hill 04-18-2008 09:47 AM

Not if you use my current crop of BHR rads, eh, Dan?:lol2:

The cool thing about the ProTechs are that they are adjustable along three stiffness rates so you are free to experiment. One thing I like about my RBs is that I can do 40-45 MPH around a corner and get perfect steady-state balance. Might be a wee bit different with an F/I kit, though.

The progress techs are supposed to be solid bars. Racing Beats are hollow.
