I just contact RP Performance in VA and they want to charge me $1155 for installation on a RB Exhuast and REVi Intake. That's a bit much isnt it? Does anyone around the area have a better shop where I can get better prices? :confused:

an intake is one of the EASIEST MODS you can do.

Does that include the parts? Still $200+ for those kinds of installs is still too much

Seriously, even if it takes say 5 hours to do the pair and they're charging $75/hour, that's only $375. I guarantee you it won't take them that long, either. It probably took me that long over two separate sessions because I'm slow, I don't have a lift, I spent half the time looking for the tools I do have, plus I was also watching my daughter, answering the phone, fixing the neighbor kid's light saber, etc etc. In no way was the installation difficult. It was far preferable to do it myself than pay a few hundred, let alone over a thousand!

I think I'll do it myself. I have to get my money back for my RB Clutch Setup then. They took it out because of hard vibrations and havent got back to me on why it was doing it. Its been over a month now. I just need my money back!

Hey....but they are called Rotary Performance, I am sure they must have a TON of useful experience installing exhausts and intakes on rotary cars! :p

Go to another shop, don't hop in bed only with 'rotary' dedicated shops. You are not rebuilding your engine or anything along those lines. Take your business somwhere else.

RP Performance in VA is good for suspension setups, that's it - they have no dyno and no knowledge of tuning.

The exhaust should take about an hour at the local tire & muffler shop. Tyhe air intake you can do for yourself. It is quite simple. Like the other posters said, unless that is with the product itself that is a raging ripoff.

I am always amazed by people who seem to want to pay others for doing simplet things, like installing an intake and exhaust. Are people really that lazy and have that much extra cash laying around?

These are the same people who don't know how to change a tire, and wait on the side of the road for 3 hours until AAA shows up.

Or live in places (like apartments) that don't provide any way of working on their cars. Or have no idea how difficult or easy it is to change an exhaust and intake, so they ask experienced forum members for advice. I personally would be very reluctant to attempt a modification that an experienced shop believes will require over $1000 worth of their time and expertise. I can't blame him for asking the question, and I'm quite sure he is satisfied with the answer that he should be able to either do it himself, or find a shop to do it for about $200.

Midas charged me 45 bucks for the install of the exhaust. I've heard from others as low as 30. Took them 20 minutes and I was off and zooming. I attempted to do it myself, but I just couldn't get enough leverage to remove the exhaust from the hangers since I was only using jack stands and didn't have the proper tools/lubricants. I figured the 45 bucks was a good investment.

If I was to get the RB intake, I would definately do the install myself as I am always scared to get my car back with missing pieces (bolts/fasteners), or even worse, a dent or scratch that you then have to have an argument over whether you or they did it. Good luck with your projects.

I'll help you remove ur bumper. After all I installed my MS Front myself.

drive up here and I will charge you 10% of that to install.

the intake is fairly simple but its not a honda.you must be sensitive around the MAF.

Its not really that hard, I run a business and just dont have that much time. I actually like working on my car. But just because some people take it to the shop doesnt mean that "they have the extra cash" or are so called "lazy".

I have an idea, call MazdaManiac tell him you'll give him 1000 bucks to do the job and he will come to you and pay his own expenses. That way you get someone who knows what he's doing and you don't have to leave the car. ;)

But seriously, that is just so far out for such little work that those guys should really be told about it. I had my exhaust put on by a very high end shop and paid $50. It takes less then half hour. As I read the RB intake posts everyone puts them on in two or three hours by themselves at home. How long could it take a pro shop with all the tools to do it?

Get another shop to bid on the intake or just pay them by the hour if you trust them. Go to any muffler shop with the exhaust, you already know what they should charge. Save the money towards your Axial Flow Supercharger. :)

if he had put $10 a week in a bank account since the start of the AFS thread he'd hve enough money for one already:):)
