so looking after the many different exhausts...

I can no longer figure out which one that I want. I like the racing beat one and I also like that agency power one. Some of the others seem to be ok but melt the shroud? The one I really liked costs 2600 dollars and I can't justify that much money for just the back end. I only want the catback so which is the most commonly sought after one?

05rex8 02-11-2009 12:46 AM

agency power melts the shroud, as does excoticspeed

are you after an aggressive or mellow exhaust note?

WTBRotary! 02-11-2009 12:50 AM

Racing Beat is IMHO the best exhaust you can get, it looks beautiful, the craftsman is unbeatable, very easy install, and last but not least the sound really brings out the true sound of the rotary engine...

volcomx31 02-11-2009 01:33 AM

AP = bad fitment ?

05rex8 02-11-2009 01:38 AM

not bad fitment, just tips get extremely hot and are pretty big

Bunique 02-11-2009 01:44 AM

I like my Greddy.

Mazdaspeed RX8 ver2 02-11-2009 02:30 AM

i love my mazdaspeed, subtle but deep sound, very sexy :)

AAChaoshand 02-11-2009 10:33 AM

yeah I wanted something that has a louder sound to it and doesn't melt the shroud as well as some nice pipes on it.

ndhoffma 02-11-2009 11:39 AM

Turbo XS will give you louder... but unless you do some work on the tips, it may melt the shroud. Even after you pay to have that done, its a cheap system (~$500)

Atilla 02-11-2009 12:05 PM

^+1 on the turbo xs being a legit exhaust at a really good price -

although you may have to extend the tips to avoid melting anything, it's still a pretty good exhaust that a lot of forum members have. It's plenty loud too.

IMO, if you want a good exhaust that a lot of forum members have and recommend w/out having to deal w/fitment or adjustment - look for racingbeat - it's got a nice tone to it w/out being too overly loud.

cjkim 02-11-2009 12:17 PM

don't own one, but borla ftw imo.

Jedi54 02-11-2009 12:19 PM

Racing Beat is a GREAT choice but it is one of the more subtle exhausts out here.
Borla is agressive
HKS hi-power is a one sided exhaust that sounds awesome. (check youtube for vids)

pdxhak 02-11-2009 12:33 PM

Corksport :) I know some do not like the tips but the sound is low and aggressive. And is weighs much less than the OE exhaust!

andrew_RX8 02-11-2009 12:44 PM

Greddy SP2 FTW!!!

treyoh5 02-11-2009 01:15 PM

ive got a magnaflow, very gratifying sound hasn't melted my KBD urethane bumper

moete87 02-11-2009 04:42 PM

Agency Power ftw!

I have had my exhaust on for roughly 3 -4 weeks now without any fitment issues and the exhaust note is just pure sex in my opinion!

crimson-rain 02-11-2009 05:35 PM

I'm in the market for a new exhaust also. I have the first model Borla currently (heat shield rattle and all) and I have to admit it sounds REEEEEALY nice. When it's not rattling of course. But with my rp supercat, it's loud. It's a nice sounding loud but I want some quieter solution, if there is a thing.

What exhaust can, combined with my hi-flo, give a much more subtle sound than my current combo? I know it's still going to be loud, but I really don't want to pay $1220.00 for a new stock cat!!!

Bunique 02-11-2009 05:53 PM

^^^try the new greddy SE

O'Renesis 02-11-2009 06:28 PM

The TurboXS catback exhaust is excellent value and also very good quality and 3" all the way. On the negative side it is loud, http://videos.streetfire.net/video/M...boXS_80943.htm
and can melt the shroud unless you lenghten the tips.
It is also very loud inside the car and can become tiring on long trips.

I've heard and seen quite a few:
If you're keeping a cat, then the Borla is amazing.
If you're goin catless, it's a bit raspy so maybe check out another one, but I think they are all raspy to some degree if you're catless...

sumdeus 02-11-2009 09:03 PM

I am very happy with my Hymee. Awesome tips too.

gh8st 02-11-2009 09:07 PM

agency power is a good choice. i've had mine for about a month now and it has a good sound.. kinda drones at 3000-4000 rpm tho. if i had a choice for a second set, i'd go with the HKS hi power

risky business 02-11-2009 09:53 PM

great ass in your avvy ghost.

the borla w/ a catless midpipe is only raspy from 3k to 4k. Other than that it sounds amazing!
