RX8 suspention and handling
hi, guys, i am new here. i was working in a MAZDA dealer for over 2 years, and i had a RX7. i like the new RX8 as much as everyone here!
do u guys think that RX8 has better handling than RX7? or it sitll needs aftermarket suspention to improve it? wut kinda suspention would put on your car ? |
Never drove a 7, btu the body roll in the 8 is a bit much. I think a stiffer front and rear sway bar set and some slightly lower springs will put it where I want it for now.

i never drove rx7 before, but i have HKS hipermax coilover right now and i went to track last weekend. i think my car handle really well

RX8 suspention and handling
I have the Racing Beat Sway Bars and the JIC Coilovers fitted..........it looks great, handles fantastic (little to no body roll) with only a minor trade off in ride comfort.
Just be careful if you take this approach as to how far you lower the vehicle!!! The springs do settle and an inch can turn into an inch and a half which makes it difficult in shopping centres etc. Go this route before you seek more horses as this way you can handle the extra horses!!!!!! Just my 2c worth !!! |
I have both a 94 Rx-7 and 04 Rx-8.
There is no doubt that the FD has much higher limits. You can look at skid pad (.98 to 1.02 G's) compared to the .88 to .91 tested for the rx-8. Infact the FD outperforms the RX8 in every single performance catagory bar none. Having said that, while the FD has much higher limits it takes a very good driver to reach them. An average driver in the Rx-8 on the street will run rings around an average driver in the FD. Put 2 experienced drivers and the FD will win every time. Why? The Rx-8 is more forgiving and inspires more confidence. It handles with absolute ease and completely absorbs any potholes. Its much easier to drive the Rx-8 fast than the FD (around a corner) but the FD if driven right is razor sharp and will out handle the rx-8. |
With proper modifications I'd bet on the RX8 to outhandle the FD. Stiffer chassis counts for something ya know..
Stock for stock? FD all the way. Give the RX8 camp time to catch up a bit and we'll see. |
