Rx8 reflash?

Alright so my friend with a gti is paying like 600 dollars for some kind of ecu reflash tune that will give him about 50 more hp. I was wandering if there was anything equivalent or similar to this. I know about the Cobb tuner but from what i read it doesnt give much more hp. I would get it just because it does have so many great functions to it. But not the hp that i want.

Anything? :dunno:
thanks

Well - on a Turbo motor, sure....the GIAC shop does wonders with German engines!

For the RX8? There are no measurable, meaningful gains to be had w/ chips, programmers, and the like. 50 = N2O or Forced Induction (which present their own problems).

50 sounds high...but I got over 30 on a flash for my evo. Its much easier to gain power on a turbo car by maximing the a/f ratios. On pretty much every stock turbo car, the ecu pours fuel into the motor to protect the motor from higher boost levels....

I only wish this car responded to mods like a turbo car.

Theres a PCM reflash by RACINGBEAT it should give 10-15 whp i think

and your rpms go to about 9300 rpm

I haven't seen any credible dyno evidence to support a 10-15whp gain.

i remapped my old hatchback 1.6 felt good gains all round drivability improved worth the money.

while i was research i found ceratin things out about it
increases work on a percentage
NA - UP TO 10 or 15%
Turbo - UP TO 35%

which is why is pretty popular with turbo diesel engines

most cars are programmed with 'flat spots' in the engine map at 'cruising' speed for economy purposes, remapping spreads the power out better through the powerband.

increased low down torque was what i found beneficial.

in respect to the rx8, the Cobb AP is a reflasher
