RX8 Facelift = transmission spree?

I have heard the new facelifted rx8 will come with a 4.77 final gear transmission as standard.

I know some people are swapping their transmissions for a 4.77 as a mod, so does this mean this mod will become a whole lot cheaper / more common as OEM mazda parts become available from next year? It should just drop right in I guess?

At this point, performance specs on the RS are pure speculation. That's wikipedia for you.

would be interesting to see if people start putting the new transmission on current 8's

It already does drop right in, and prices would likely only drop to $1500 (from $1700) for the swap depending on how close to the $700 current price tag for the gear that mazda wants to price it.

Mazdamotorsports lists the MSRP for the stock 4.44 gear to be $707 if that will be any indicaiton to the cost of the stock 4.77 gear.

As in my thread, most of the cost comes from the $200 of bearings that need to be replaced as well as the labor of taking it out.
