rx7 store counter wieght

I was just reading another forum and they were talking about counterwieghts and how acts c/w is a little better balanced. my question is i bout the actprolite flywheel and the counter wieght on rx7 store.com is thier counterwieght acts c/w or there own? and how good is it if not.

nycgps 01-08-2008 07:32 PM

rx7store sells Mazda counterweight.

ACT counterweight are almost the same, its just a bit better balanced than the Mazda one.

You can use Mazda Counterweight, I've been using it for a long while. but the thing is that Im going to take my tranny down soon(as soon as my part comes), and I want things to be perfect, even just tiny minor differents, I wanna try it.

mysql101 01-08-2008 08:02 PM

I have the act counterweight. The price is virtually the same, so if ACT is better, there isn't any reason not to get it.

On the other hand, I wonder about the 'better balanced' part. It's either balanced or it's not.

nycgps 01-08-2008 11:00 PM

thats the part I dont understand.

I think everybody is fine to use the A/T counterweight, but why dont Mazda sell the M/T counter weight to people for the FW application ? why they recommend the A/T one ?

ACTman post the info before, its a couple of oz short for the A/T one.

I ordered mine already, and when its here and I take my tranny down. I can try to weight it, but I have no scale ... need to ask my pop if he can lend his company's to me for a day or 2.

I do, however ask for that which I am willing to offer other companies. My cost plus shipping as a professional courtesy. I also don't always get that for which I ask.

I still hate people who can get free stuff.

I never said it was you :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

So... verdict?

I have to get a CW for my Fidanza... I might just order the Fidanza CW for continuity.

nycgps 01-11-2008 01:07 PM

Counterweight Came Yesterday :)

see if I can weight it today, if not tomorrow.

Z, how much for/where are you finding the Fidanza weight?

I'm being told that there is no Fidanza CW now and that I have to go with Mazda part #N351-11-521. I'm sad.

What I need to figure out is if it's the front or the back counterweight. I'm still learning a LOT about this car.

SirZyrion 02-01-2008 02:30 PM

Damnit! I'm being told that the ACT CW was modified to NOT work with the Fidanza FW too. But that was from a Fidanza guy so the salt is expected.

I'm leaning towards getting a used 13B CW, but I won't have the hardware to mount it to the FW, so I'm hesitant. I'd rather have all the pieces in place and in the package when I drop everything off at Toy Box.

SirZyrion 02-04-2008 11:54 AM

I'm all for your advice Charles. You know that. But I found a used CW locally for dirt cheap, and with $2,400 in fines to pay off, every cent I can save is important. I'll probably swap it for the ACT down the line with my first flywheel surface disc replacement.

Oh I know. It's cool man. I ust don't want you to think I'm ignoring your advice. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" they say, and I need all the advice I can get so I wanna make sure you know I'm grateful for the info and help.
