RP/BONEZ Supercat questions ...

I hear this fuckin thing is loud, that is fine with me. My MS dual exaust can get loud but I would like it to be a little more offensive :ylsuper:

MY first question is, will this thing mate up w/ my MS midpipe thing or does this actually replace that ? Second, I would like to install this myself, how difficult is it ?

[yes I searched]

Cat installation is done in under 30 minutes. Just remove the stock one and replace with the new one... itīs really that simple

the rp cat requires an extra exhaust hanger...someone correct me if im wrong.

I thought I read that due to the light weight of the RP cat it does not require any hangers ?

what about the compatibility w/ my MS cat back system ... it looks like this thing replaces the whole front piece thing thing

Does the RP Supercat require any ECU tuning? The FAQ said midpipes do. I know this is still a cat but will the higher flow require tuning?.

Some people have had issues with rattling or banging up against the body and had hangers welded on. Some said said what you pointed out, no issues because it had little give, and is lightweight.

It replaces the stock cat. It "should" be compatible with most cat-back.

alright thanks, im gonna give them a call

well I called RP and they told me it will match up fine, I ordered it and the gasket/bolt kit

cant wait !

I've heard people with RB cat-backs are banging with the RP cat w/o the hanger. otherwise I would get one

Dro 04-19-2006 04:46 PM

On that note, the guy from RP told me that soon they will have a hanger kit in stock for anyone having problems w/ the mid-pipe banging.

There is also always the option of having the stock hanger cut off and welded back on, if you know somebody good like that [and I do, just in case]

i still can't comprehend how people are having issues... my cat with the stock exhaust has a couple inches of clearance from everything

maybe there are manufacturing tolerances with a flange angle thats sloppy -shrug-

Perhaps, either way, the good people over at RP are really nice to deal with and Im sure if there was an issue they would work with you to solve it. He said on all the cars they have installed or tested it on, there was never an issue, but either way an add on hanger was developed and will be available soon.

The RB unit is actually 8 or so lbs. heavier that stock. maybe that's enough to make the banging happen.

It definitely rattles for some people. I think it may depend on the exhaust though, cause I had no problems, but I helped someone else install one, and it rattled like crazy.
