Is the revi really worth it
i have the revi intake from rb i was wondering if it is any better than the stock one it seem like my gas mil got worse after the revi . my car goes in next week for 5000 mile service should i switch them or not worry about it. how many went back to stock intake after they had the revi. im worried about warranty

They shouldn't void warranty for a simple intake. If you are that concerned just put the original back in. You are probably getting worse mileage because you step on the gas more. I think most people are getting better mileage with it, but its not like I can speak from experience, since I don't have one myself.

could be :D

Was in the dealer for my scheduled 30,000 mile service two weeks ago. And loved the sound of the intake.
They could have cared less that it was on my car. |
I brought my car in with the Revi intake and exhaust. No problem.

I'm torn between splurging on an intake now or just modding the suspension for now while waiting a few years before messing with engine related parts, for the sake of the warranty. But man after hearing what an aftermarket intake sounds like on my friend's Celica, it's hard not to want the same for mine NOW. He has an Injen intake, and his car sounds absolutely nuts right when the cams lift near redline.
Would be nice if somebody could post a scan of the installation instructions to see how hard it is to install. I don't exactly trust local performance shops to mess around with an RX-8 when all they regularly see are Civics and Integras, and would heavily base the purchasing decision on whether I could install it myself or not. |
i really kind of easy to install i know nearly nothing to the intake installation but i did it within 2 hours with my friend....

Just a note...... RacingBeat did not want those of us who have the REVi to scan across the internet the installation instructions. I am sure they would send you some with your order.LOL. It was an extremely easy install and for me WELL worth it. I think I am getting 1-2 mpg better. I am on my second tank. The car runs smoother which for me makes it easier to shift and it sounds GREAT. And you open the hood and it is so subtle looking sitting in there, almost stock. I say buy one if you have $300 sitting around

Thanks for the note about the not posting the instructions publically, I suspected as much seeing the complete lack of downloadable instructions on their site and over here. Best to ignore my request then. As far as it being subtle...have they started producing the intakes in the plain gray color, or is it still blue? Gray would definitely be the color I'd get it in. I have no wish for the intake to attract attention at the dealership. Yeah I'm pretty paranoid about the warranty, especially with the car having a rotary that could go wacko at any moment, as seen with some of the recent power loss/stalling threads. |
Is the Revi worth it???.......Till the last $...
|
I'm sure you've seen pictures of the REVi . It is barely noticeable in the engine bay from a visual perspective. From all other perspectives it is very noticeable. Now bring me the cold air nozzle to go with it!!

buy it now!!!!!!!!

I just finished my first tank and got 251 MPG!!!! Definitely worth it....
PS I also installed the RB Exhaust... :D |
Is it worth it? Absolutely...combined with their exhaust the car almost sounds and feels like a different car. I have one of the early 8's so I still get free maintenance from Mazda...I just had mine in for the 30,000 mile service and the dealer didn't even mention it. Service was covered, no problem.

https://www.rx8club.com/se-rx-8-forum-30/lets-set-up-meet-south-fl-ft-lauderdale-area-62834/ When is the next Autox? oh and is 251 per tank not 251 MPG :D oops... wishful thinking... |
I get better milage and definately more power.
|
Definitely worth it.
|
Anyone have any real numbers on "it's definately worth it", or is that based on just sounding cooler?
|
I do believe, Polak and Nemisis have Dyno charts with improvements.
Plus not to mention the manufacturer's claim which can be trusted. |
