pic of header.

slalom29 04-20-2004 04:25 PM

Did you already install the headers on the car?

rotaryDemon 04-20-2004 06:14 PM

yep. it is actually a full exhaust system from RE-amemiya. in Jan. when i bought it, the header and hi-flow cat were not avail to the general public.

takahashi 04-20-2004 06:16 PM

nice

mikeb 04-20-2004 07:04 PM

how much is the header?

blksf8 04-20-2004 07:48 PM

I think it's about $1000 at Rotary Extreme and JT imports

What we really wanna hear about is the GAINS you've gotten w/ the RE STUFF!

rotaryDemon 04-21-2004 08:20 AM

never dyno'd. my butt dyno tells me a decent gain throughout the power band. sound not really noticable until about 4500rpm.

mikeb 04-21-2004 02:10 PM

1k for headers

Psychofox 04-21-2004 05:30 PM

very nice

IZoomZoomI 04-22-2004 12:24 AM

for headers ? heysus....

blksf8 04-22-2004 12:35 AM

hey, it's expensive, but RE is the best known rotary tuner in Japan. you pay for the name.

Japan8 04-22-2004 01:37 AM

No... you're just paying for JDM parts... that's all.

Psychofox 04-23-2004 12:04 AM

i dont think you are just paying for the JDM parts, all the RE stuff are prove to gain HP, if he is welling to pay the money to get one of the top brand for his car, why would anyone say that he is just paying for the JDM parts? i mean dont you guys wants to know if RE stuff do make that much HP as they claim on the their website? i know i would like to see it. just me .02 cent :)

I disagree..I would rather have the RE exhaust then a Borla or any other tuner...

Plus, not just the expertise he brings to the functionality but I like the design...all RE AMEMIYA exhaust tips point down..thats his signiture.. Its a much diffrent effect from your run of the mill exhaust tips..

Congrats on the exhaust... Jelous I am...

Where was the RE exhaust purchased from?

I still disagree with you. At 2x the cost and not 2x the perfomance it is hardly worth it other than as a fashion accessory. And that's worthless for me. I can use the change you're spending to get a Canzoomer piggyback, a mid pipe/high flow cat, or an intake. Two for one? Sounds like a deal to me. Your RE Amemiya or Knight Sports muffler rusts out in 3 years... oh well... $1,000- 1,200 down the drain. Buy Borla... million mile warranty. Buy Racing Beat, people other than you and I (who can speak Japanese) are able to call the maker and complain. Again... I still don't see any reason why it's worth it to spend 2x other than fashion and because someone only cares if the part is JDM or not... BAH!

Just because you've been doing it awhile and/or are the top now, doesn't mean someone's product isn't as good or better. The auto industry itself has changed over the years... that should tell you enough right there. Besides, Racing Beat is less expensive, has through expertise and Mazda seems to think they are good enough to officially use. If you want to talk JDM, AutoExe seems to be good enough that Kanto Mazda dealers are carrying their parts...

AND. As far as RE Amemiya being a good tuner or not. Them winning races, does not a good tuner necessarily make. I haven't read enough to give a fully educated opinion, HOWEVER... I think motorcycle GP racing is a prime example of the issue. Valentino Rossi has left Honda and it's famous RC211V race bike for Yamaha. For several seasons now, Rossi has been killing the pack with his bike. It came down to he's the reason for the wins or the bike. So he left for Yamaha. This will be an interesting season with former World Superbike Champion Hayden now riding MotoGP for Honda. This season will show if it was the rider or the bike...

On the personal taste note... I was discussing the RE Amemiya muffler tips with someone, whom pointed out it isn't fashion, it's sound control for racing. Cool... if you race. I don't and "different isn't always better"... IMHO they're ugly. But that's my opinion.

Looking at this from another perspective...

Many people here know I'm a long time Mustang fan. Saleen is a big Ford tuner who has produced some serious performing Mustangs (albeit at an insane price). He's recognized as a top tuner for various reasons, and I'd certainly be happy to own parts if not a whole car (WHICH even come with the Ford factory warranty!) from them. BUt unlike many people on this forum, I don't worship Saleen because he is the top Ford (particularly Mustang) tuner. I'd buy a Jack Rousch product over Saleen or a Steeda over both of them if it was offering simliar benefits/performance for less money.

So where is the benefit in buying a JDM muffler over a domestic? And given all this why "RE Amemiya" everything?

9-K Rever 04-23-2004 12:26 PM

Japan 8.... I hear ya loud and clear buddy.

And you know I am not trying to cut you down at all. I just want to wanted to express my opinion for a sec..

When I talked to the shop last month... they said their exhaust/header combo is makeing 20 extra usuable HP in the JDM 8... Now..don't start going balistic...cuz, that is undheard of in a recipricating engine/ exhaust combo. But, we all know that Rotatries put out a rediculcas amount of exhaust that make them great for turbo charging. But, the stock exhausts have a ton of sound deading material and restriction that all the after market tuners just remove or reduce to increase performance. RE's shop has not published the numbers..or told anyone how they achived it. But, it is possible. I am not saying any one with a rotary should go all RE-Amemiya or JDM.. All I am saying..know who has been around in the game..and who has the most experience. I don't trust Canzoomer becuase before this forum I have never heard of him.. I have never read any of his work on RX-7 ECU tuning or any other ECU tunning for that matter. I mean..there are specialist out there...Like Spirits...Amuse...Top Secret..JUN...I can go on and on..but the undenibale fact is for rotary tuning..RE AMEMIYA and his shop have no equel.

And just to add a little more to the ECU tunning topic...RE's shop said they were having trouble finding AIR/FUEL mapping that would take on all 7 versions of the JDM PCM...and people that have less experience with rotaries...not to mention the BRAND NEW RX8 are haveing succsess.. Hmmm....just some food for thought..

IHMO..yes I can speak Japanese and read..and every thing that I have experienced or read or seen has been top notch when it comes to RX tuning.

When you it comes to price and performance. A grand for the exhaust is not to obscean exspecialy when they are claiming major results.

Just to let you know, I am also looking at the AMUSE TITANIUM exhaust for my 8. Not just the RE Amemiya.

do u get more hp off it? and any tourqe? did it sound any better?

thanks

Japan8 04-23-2004 12:57 PM

9-K Rever...no no problem at all. We're all here to share info and opinions...

I mean..there are specialist out there...Like Spirits...Amuse...Top Secret..JUN...I can go on and on..but the undenibale fact is for rotary tuning..RE AMEMIYA and his shop have no equel.
As far as experience in tuning rotary engines... come on... Racing Beat claims over 30 years experience. AutoExe is a top Mazda tuner that is even carried at the dealers. RE Amemiya doesn't have the corner on the market as the top rotary tuner in the world. One of the top... yeah... but there are several others as well.

As far as RE Amemiya's claim on the exhaust/header... I did notice that they haven't pubically published much on it. The system may make that much hp, but here's something for you... check out FEED's header. Looks awefully familar, eh? R Magic claims 14.5ps from their exhaust and another 5ps from their high flow cat. Or how about Odula who's is supposed improve low end to mid range torque.

I seem to remember reading the same comment somewhere about RE Amemiya's ECU tuning and various JDM PCM versions. Who's building a turbo and who's just tagging along??

Need For Speed 04-23-2004 01:25 PM

cant you tel me the nš of the parts of RE-EMEMYIA?
i want it.

rotarygod 04-23-2004 04:03 PM

There is not a single header for the Renesis on the market at this time that is worth it's weight in materials. Not a single one has accounted for the different tuning requirements that the center port needs. I don't believe there are any gains worth paying for in available header design. It is a nice looking paper weight. Just because RE-Amemiya built it doesn't mean it works very good. Yaw had a beautiful header at sevenstock 6 that looks better than anyones. It didn't do crap and he'll admit it! RE-Amemiya has tons of experience with turbocharged cars. Stick with what you know and learn to do it very well. That they do! Now we are dealing with non forced induction engine. Even then, the engine behaves very differently than the older nonturbo rotaries. This is when the truly knowledgable people will bring products out that actually work.

No one can insult Borla. There are so many people that will pay twice the money for a piece of shiny polished or chromed carbon steel but won't pay for a nearly indestructible piece of nonshiny stainless steel. This puzzles me. I don't lay on the ground under may car marveling at how shiny these pieces are. The exhaust takes the most abuse of any part on the car. It should be made out of something durable. FWIW: I've discussed the header topic with David Borla. He is in agreement that the key to power production on a Renesis header will be through the center port and the way that it is treated. I've said it here for over a year and he is the ONLY person who has tried it and verified it. You can bet that when his header hits the market, it will make all others obsolete. It will also do it at a fraction of the price.

Not trusting Canzoomer because no one has heard of him before this forum? I wonder if anyone said that about RE-Amemiya when they first appeared on the market?

Here's a wake up call for those who like to spend money. The true innovators are usually those who try things in their garages on their own cars. These people are the ones who typically have the faster car and who did it cheaper. There's alot to be said about results. There isn't a whole lot to be said about name brands though and this applies to anyone.

I'm not insulting anyone. Buy and use what makes you happy. That's all that counts. I'm just trying to make a point. Don't go solely by name. Go into a high end stero shop and mention BOSE if you don't believe me.

Japan8 04-23-2004 08:20 PM

Thanks RG... you much more eloquently said what I was trying to.
