thanks danomite, love the wheels btw, one of the first things im getting after the exhaust and maybe the REVi intake will be a set of gold/ gunmetal wheels

Without starting another thread, I was wondering about other performance mods. From the looks of it, there isnt nearly as many mods as for the RX7. Besides intake, exhaust, what is there without going with a turbo that will give a little gain. Would a RB flywheel be a good investment? though im scared itll hurt the torque, which I cant have... ? Any of you guys broken out of the 14's without hurting the wallet?

go fast parts = money. gotta pay to play.

I think car and driver pulled 14.5 seconds after 40000 miles during a long term test. Those guys aren't into modding their fleet vehicles I'm sure.

lol yea im aware, but surely its not gonna cost huge money to break into sub 14.0 territory, dont they run somewhere in the mid 14's stock? but researching and looking around online im not really finding anything other than exhausts and intakes. maybe im not looking in the right places or something. anybody have any good mazda performance sites? guess i could always look around the forums and find them myself, but help is appriciated

it's still gonna cost you a few thousand dollars to break into the sub 14's (greddy turbo kit at least) and thats if your a decent/ good driver. I don't think I've seen any slips or proof with anyone hitting high 13's or low 14's with just bolt-ons.

NgoRX8 02-27-2006 11:12 AM

It's guna be almost impossible to hit sub 14s as of right now w/o going FI. Best gains are from midpipe, intake, and ecu. Which still wouldn't get someone into the 13s.

I think there are some NOS supporters that see it as part of the path to sub-14s... Charles???

Your shitting me, I was thinking the RX8 was faster than that. Oh well, Im mainly getting an 8 as my daily driver, something fairly fast/quick... so whatever the exhaust/intake gets me will be just fine I guess. Say if I was to go FI, what would be a good stand alone ecu to go with? I dunno if Id wanna buy an actual Greddy kit, though im not so sure what all is out there for the RX8, so that might be the only sane option

The popular but pricey standalone ECU available now is the Interceptor-X by Mazsport. It's $1600. From a dyno sheet somewhere on the forum it gives about 8 max whp gain, but gains up to 20 whp over the stock horsepower curve. If you ever decide to go turbo in the future this would be a good investment to make.
