quick question: racing beat screen
sorry to act like a noob and post a dumb question on this section.. but i was installing my racing beat intake.. and i was wondering why does it need the screen from the stock air box? what does the screen actually do.. sorry just trying to learn a little more about cars and performance.. someone that helped me put on the intake said that the screen wasn't necessary so i wanted to ask if it's actually essential >.< i feel a series of flames coming along >.<

It reduces turbulence before the MAF sensor. Taking it out will not add HP so just leave it in.
|
but it wouldn't decrease hp right? the reason i ask is because i broke it while trying to take it out of the stock box.. you think i should actually go and try to find a replacement?
|
theres two in the stock box. You should be able to use either of them. The second one is harder to get to though.
|
you can try without it - worse case, your idle is crap and you end up having to install the screen.
|
I would try to find one. Our MAFs are finiky.
And yes, you could lose power or develop idle problems. |
thanks for the quick reply.. i am going to try to pull out the second one

Don't break it nOOb!!!
[/obligatory flamefest] Have fun with the intake. You're going to love the sound. |
