A question on the fuel system...

An open question for those who might know...

In preparing my 8 for nitrous, I have figured out everything except for where/how to pick up the fuel supply. The 8 has two "quick-connect" fittings between the master cylinder and the plastic upper intake manifold. One is red and the other is blue. In tracing the fuel lines it is my belief that the red one is for the primary fuel rail and injectors and the blue one is for the secondaries. I have two questions:

1) Is this assumption correct?

2) Is it acceptable to cut the rubber-covered, plastic fuel line(red send) and tap a "T" fitting in?

I figure if I remove the fuel line and make sure I get a clean cut without ragging the edges of the line I may be able to put in a fitting that won't leak at 65 psi.

Any input you might have is appreciated.

Thanks,
Charles

well what was your answer>??????

I knew there would be interest NOW. I have found that it is acceptable to make a clean cut through both the rubber cover and inner vinyl fuel lines, that it will be somewhat difficult to push the T fitting into the vinyl line but that is not a bad thing, and that the rubber cover will allow for proper clamping force over the vinyl line. As to which color line is for which set of injectors, I have yet to get an answer. I will assume, for now, that the red line feeds the primaries and the blue one feeds the secondaries. Anyone with further info please advise.

Man, you guys are a tough crowd! I have yet to begin the installation but I will take pictures and explain my thoughts as to why I did things the way I did. If you wish to see these pictures as they become available you may do so by paying $3.95 a minute and logging on to....

Just kidding. I may need help posting photos as I am behind the curve on computer use, but I bought my girlfriend a really nice digital camera so I have that much covered.

Hehehe...the age old question of "the red wire or the blue wire"...never thought I'd actually see a real person have to agonize over it :D
