Question on Exhausts

I finally have some money to do something about the sound of the car without sounding like a "Civic". Now my first thought is to buy a cat back exhaust system and later an Intake. (money would be $1000 TOPS!!). I read here is alot of people with alot of experience so please give me a hand. The ones I've seen (and in budget) are Borla ans G-reedy), are thoy ok? what should I go for??

Exhausts on the RX-8 are about sound and looks. Not about power.

I suggest reading up on this thread which has sound clips and links to pictures. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/rx-8-aftermarket-exhausts-summary-16442/

$1000 is just about enough for a full racingbeat setup

I wouldn't go with Racing Beat... the catback is heavier than the stock exhaust it replaces. Besides, since a catback won't give you much power anyway you might as well go with the cheapest you can find. Greddy all the way for me

edit: I'll go ahead and give the guys over at www.iapdirect.com a plug for the good deal I got. Out of 10-12 online stores I looked they could ship the greddy to me for the least amount of money. They are based out of Florida btw so shipping only took 3 days for me. I'm sure it would be even less for you since you live in the same state.

for the $1000 you want to spend get the Greddy and the Racing Beat REVi intake. If you find good enough deals (go to www.rx8store.net ) you probally can get the Racing beat Ram Air intake too.

brightnova is right about the exhaust system being about sound and looks. That said, get the one that seems to meet your taste for both. I have Racing Beat from front to back. I like the overall sound over stock. Not too overbearing for me. If there are any board members in your area try and get with them to hear and see theirs in person. Good luck.

Ok, so the idea is no power gain if I improve the exhaust system, it's clear and I have no problem with that, If it improves looks and sound it's enough. I'll go to the Rotary meet on SUnday in Weston to check if someone has any aftermarket exhausts and then I'll decide. I thank you all for your comments and suggestions!!!
