Potential Turbo Problem

I brought my car in two days ago for recall and I received the updated R flash. I noticed this flash added fuel to top end particularly at boost. I had been reading around 11.5 - 12.0 and now I am reading below 11. I don't know how far below 11 because my AEM A/F gauge starts at 11. I also had a boost gauge installed today and at max boost was 5 lbs. The fact that I have a high flow cat and exhaust, I expected to be running a higher boost reading. I spoke to Benny at GReedy today and he seemed confused at that reading. He thought that with my set up I should see 7-8lbs. He said I might have a compression problem. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

How do I fix the Greedy map.

By tuning it.

I posted about the R-flash riching up my AFR's last week here.

You can get the map tuned but it'll be worthless in a month since the RX8 stock computer changes the fuel trim over time. The bottom line is the blue emanage isn't up to par on controlling the fuel for our cars since it adds to the existing stock fuel.
You'll need an EMS that controls ALL of the fuel (interceptor X, maybe emanage ultimate).

i am finding that I have to reset my ecu two to three times a week just to keep safe a/f. Emanage is useless, if your rich, just hold out, it will lean out quickly :)

Saving for the interceptor, the threads on the negative battery cable are getting worn :(

I noticed my LTFT at -4% after about 2 hours of driving. :( Not sure what to do about it. I guess I could rig a relay to cut the battery, or get an Interceptor. The LTFT is the only thing buggin me. Aside from that, the emanage blue is doing a seemless job of controlling my car. I'm happy with it! :p

I guess the fuel trim has only a limited range. Say + or - 10%. Knowing the maw fuel trim, you just have to take it into account when you "tune" the e-manage. I don't really see the problem?

^ I thought about that. I think it can pull 20+% But, if the stock ECU ever gets reset, you'd have a VERY rich condition!

so im getting my warranty work soon should i tellem not to give me a flash?

epitrochoid 09-12-2005 11:16 AM

well im sure they wont have a problem since you're warranty is toast because of the turbo anyway...hell at my dealer i have to practically hold their hand and show them how to flash the damn thing

Yes OK. But why would you want to reset anyway? You only reset when you disconnect the battery voltage to the PCM or during a PCM update (which you would not do anywore after tuning a Greddy kit).

Does a fuel trim hitting its limit (20% you said) will trigger a CEL or any fault mode?

You don't want to but resets happen. Maybe you drain the battery or maybe you add something else to the car that requires disconnecting the battery to work on the electronics. Stuff happens.
