Porting anyone had it done ?

So im due a rebuild soon and I was wondering if its worth getting it ported and I was wondering if anyone has had it done and has any comments as im getting mixed response from re-builders some refusing some saying its pointless and others saying its a great option when the engine is out so if anyone has any input please share.

Different templates give different gains, but quality is a factor also. Either way, you'll get a little more air when you port it

Porting is great if you are aiming to squeeze out as much power as you can. It does not have as much impact on the renesis as it did on older rotaries. Only worth it if you have an engine apart already or is getting one rebuilt. That said, it's really an art, so make sure the person who does it has experience with it.

It can be done and it does have some benefits.
However keep in mind that a good porting is not only about removing material.
Especially with the renesis you have to smoothen up some passages, work with the intake manifold (APVs especially) etc to maximize the results.

After porting an engine tuning becomes crucial to really enjoy the benefits but you already have an AP.

More people have ported than have searched

It's not a studied topic in europe. Most shops are still thinking about rx7 port gains and the like. Even less shops have access to a flowbench to study the templates so they usually just smoothen things up to a "safe" limit.

As stated above there are gains to be had by porting this motor. However as stated before it is not the same as porting earlier plates because there is less material to remove. I have done several now with good results and happy customers.

Thanks for the input its sounding like porting may still be worth a go.

Lots of porting work can be done, Hell I just got my lower intake manifold ported. Lots of good threads on the subject.
