piping diameter fo cat

Hi,

I've done the search job, but couldn't find any hint.
Follwoing question :

*engine: high power 6-port
* modified stock intake with a K&N drop in filter.
* aftermarket Sebring cat back exhaust installed.

Now i'm planning to place a customized high flow cat instead of the Oem part.
The cat have 200cpi and one resonator.
The question is, which diameter ofthe pipes will be better ?
The 2,5'' as stock, or 3'' ?

conditions:
I don't want to go Fi.
I want a little better throttle response and slight increase in power over the rpm spectrum (i'm not interested in peak numbers).
Maybe a better mileage :)
want to keep the Sebring exhaust

so, under those conditions, which pipe diameter will be the better one ?

(I know, the 3'' will privide more air per time, but don't know, if the bottleneck at the exhaust flange will cause more troubles to the flow than the 2.5'' pipe. So I'm not completly sure, which will work best)

thanks in advance for help :)

Br,
EdFred
