Opinions on the best aftermarket chip?

I've been reading as much as I can about aftermarket ECU chips like Canzoomer, Unichip, etc. With my limited background in such matters, I'm more confused after reading the posts.

Is there any consensus on the better chips? Is Canzoomer's one of the better ones?

And BTW which ones work on the AT? Yes, I apologize for the AT but I have a slight handicap. I e-mailed Canzoomer about an AT chip and they blew me off with a slightly snickering answer.

None of these are "chips". These are basically systems that fool the stock computer into thinking something else is happening. You need to get them tuned.

As far as laughing about the AT, you need to read the article in this forum about why the AT will never make power - don't waste your money on it. Floss your ride with a nice kit, some nice rims, and a good drop - if you wanted to go fast you shoulda got a manual.

well the auto will gain power just as well as the manual, the gains just won't be as big. After all it makes (theoretically) 17% less power. The Greddy kit will reduce 0-60 times by around 2 seconds, as evidenced by apex8 (and therefore any forced induction can). If you read the entire "AT will never make power" thread you'll see that it can make power, just not as much. But if you wanted 300 horsepower you could do it, just spend the $$. The same $$ will get you about 350 in the 6 port engine (again theoretically).

As for the chips, most people would have to fine tune them to get the most out of them. Check out Canzoomer's place in the vendor's forum. There's a thread on tuning the unit for the AT car. And don't apologize for driving an auto, you shouldn't give a crap what people here think of you for driving one. I find the auto driver bashing quite funny, and it shows a lot of insecurity in the bashers.

If they really blew you off with a laugh like that, just buy an emanage. It's the same thing, and you won't have to give your money to someone who treated you that way :p

Hey Therm8, thanks for the info. Your reply was the only useful post. The others were just getting their rocks off.

Quote: "Check out Canzoomer's place in the vendor's forum. There's a thread on tuning the unit for the AT car." That bit of information was what I needed. I didn't know the Canzoomer unit could be tuned and used on the AT. Thanks, I'll look into it.
