Just bought a Cusco oil catch can...directions are all in japanese...how do I go about installing this thing? (what lines do I have to run/block off etc.)

Go to the DIY section.
|
I checked the DIY forum, and searched the forums aswell as the internet before I posted this. Aside from that I have a greddy turbo kit if that helps at all. I just need to know which lines lead to and from the tank. Any help is much appreciated.
|

While not a turbo setup, the installation is just the same:
http://photos-467.ll.facebook.com/ph...13871_7913.jpg I have the greddy catch can but they all work the same. One line goes from the spot under the oil fill cap and the other hooks into one of the intake vacuum lines. Some people will simply put a filter on the catch can and cap their intake. There's multiple ways to do it. If you have the greddy turbo this should be a piece of cake install. |
Oil catch can install
Anyone went to the trouble of installing one. If so got any pictures and a guide?
|
anymore pics of the install
|
it's as easy and hooking the hose up and finding a place to mount the catch can.
one hose to the nipple at the oil cap. you can put another hose to the intake duct or vent the oil by adding a breather filter to the can. |
|
good job. very easy.
|
thank you
|
Hmm - I'm assuming you would check valve the line to the oil fill neck if you're FI as to prevent positive oil pan pressure? I might do one of these some day.
|
Well i did it. its pretty simple to be honest

Sorry to bump it up, but what are the benefits of this really?? i know someone mentioned the filter plug instead, which is better? id figure filter be cheaper way, but idk if either has its benefits.
Thanks |
some people have oil entering their intake. when you put a filter to the catch can or the oil filler head you vent the oil so its not pressurized and does not get forced into the intake.
|
What a waste............
You should have just put a filter on one end and capped off the intake. |
^but it looks cool :D:
I would say it's probably more beneficial with FI |
IMO I think there is too much hose and it probably defeats the purpose.

I also agree that FI is prob more useful but all in all keeping the oil out of the intake/throttle plate is good whether FI or NA
