New coils and plug wires were also added. thanks to fluid for getting the wires to me early this morning, had just undone the first bold on the UIM and the fed ex guy walked up.

And a HUGE thanks to CRH for a great kit at a great price, making such a great spacer, and the advice and guidance he provided.

congrats on the install! looks good so far.

9krpmrx8 06-05-2009 11:20 PM

Nice install. oh, and your car is filthy.

NACer4lyf 06-05-2009 11:21 PM

nice work man.

i would love to do this just dont know if im brave enough to install it let alone even use it haha

getdamafiaonyou 06-05-2009 11:28 PM

thanks man. and i assume you mean all the crap on the floor and in the trunk? well all of that actually came off on my back. from being on the floor of the garage to run the lines under the car. but yeah it's still filthy. prob clean it tmro.

getdamafiaonyou 06-05-2009 11:31 PM

it wasn't a hard install. just a little time consuming. getting the UIM off wasn't as hard as everyone said it was. i think the most annoying part was actually the spark plug wires, one of them was VERY tight. and i put them all on the right ones, double and triple checked, just didnt want to go on right...then i re positioned it and it went right on.

Hey hey hey spary everyday! Looks great some wire loom and black tape and no one will know its there sneaky pete style! How do you like the extra power?

wcs 06-06-2009 09:51 AM

Your engine bay is a mess.
Nice job on the install. I love nitrous.

Race Roots 06-06-2009 11:43 AM

Congrats and glad everything worked out perfectly for you!

WingleBeast 06-06-2009 11:43 AM

some simple green and a power sprayer should take care of that engine bay

getdamafiaonyou 06-06-2009 06:29 PM

oh your talking about the actual engine bay being dirty. yeah i need to clean that. im actually going out to wash the car in about ten minutes, i'll post up some better pics afterward. and i LOVE the nitrous. i love it so much.

getdamafiaonyou 06-07-2009 08:30 AM

are you saying that the wire tap was done poorly? or that i should just cover the wire for protection? because the wire is now covered.

getdamafiaonyou 06-07-2009 05:13 PM

got ya. it's been fixed.

TopGear8 06-07-2009 05:26 PM

No street racing now!:nono:

Easy_E1 06-07-2009 05:28 PM

Welcome to the Nitrous world. Keep it above 4500 rpm.

getdamafiaonyou 06-07-2009 06:20 PM

always above 4500. i like having a engine.

rotaryguy13 06-08-2009 12:45 AM

Im a noob to nitrous... :/ why do you have to activate after 4500 rpm

Because the properties of the nitrous system can cause a backfire at lower RPM's. This is where fuel in the intake manifold and the resulting explosion will blow your manifold apart and could result in other serious engine damage.

Above 4,200 RPM's there is enough air entering the motor that the fuel isn't able to puddle in the manifold as easily.

For a manual car, this is pretty easy to accomplish. For autos it takes a bit more effort to make sure you're in the right gear.

YaXMaNGTO 06-08-2009 01:03 AM

Okay, I gotta ask... why cant you use some sort of window switch with a renesis? Nobody has one, even for an RX7?

Charles, could you build one?

Sooo fuel isnt moving out of the intake manifold quickly enough resulting in explosion, resulting in engine damage. ?

It's not so much the engine that I would worry about under heavy load and low RPM's. Fuel puddles and BOOM! New Intake manifold. :banghead: The 55 shot is good in that range (4500) and maybe a little below. But. If you can get your car to just start into OPEN LOOP, that's the sweet spot. I like 5000 rpm to start walking on my buddies. :spank:

See above^

YaXMaNGTO 06-08-2009 01:11 AM

I mean, I don't jack about ignition systems... I really don't, but damnit, I recall very clearly tapping into the one of the wires going into the coil pack, and programming my window switch in a couple seconds for a V8 with 3K to 6K RPM window. It was easy. Maybe it won't read the RPM's right for the rotary, but couldn't you "trick" the window switch to using a certain RPM range based on what it's picking up?

I think I read something about you even using LS2 coils originally for one of the ignition kits. I must be oversimplifying, because I just don't much about it, but shouldn't this be possible?

Like you've ever blown a manifold! :flamed:

rotaryguy13 06-08-2009 01:26 AM

haha sweet thanks for the info :D

YaXMaNGTO 06-08-2009 02:08 AM

Okay, so I searched, and I found there are people trying to do this, but I guess nobody's got a successful "recipe" yet to get a window switch to work on an RX8... well, I didn't find one.
