New Greddy cold air intake - slick!

Seems to be a long-ram intake, drawing cold air from the passenger side fenderwell. Neat design!

Price is about $250 US dollars - hopefully they'll be available in the states soon.

That may work on the j-spec car but I wonder what fitment would be like with our passenger-side oil cooler. Not to mention the fog lights.

Wow, thats a long run for and intake. I wonder how it performs?

It says in the description that it fits with the stock fog lights. Hard to say on the second oil cooler - I'm assuming they have models in Japan that have the second oil cooler as well.

In Japan they only get the one oil cooler, for whatever reason.. I'd much rather have an oil cooler in that spot than a "cold water" intake :)

You sure about that? I haven't gone and stuck my face in my neighbor's car, but I'm betting it has two. The MS RX-8 has two, and it's not an addition... it said that one of them (right I think) was replaced with a higher capacity oil cooler.

It seems overly long to me. You've got this huge grill opening but it actually goes past it to get to its final location. What is wrong with the grill opening? I would think that would be the best source of fresh air available. There was a Rotary Extreme prototype that used this spot, if I recall correctly, but I don't know whatever came of it.

Well, now I've seen everything. I'm not sure that will work on the USDM version. The oil cooler point is a good one, though personally I think that the bumper support or crash beam will get in the way. I've had the front bumper off and there's alot of stuff going on behind the skin. My guess it that it will fit with the crash beam removed. Or you could put an elbow in it, run it out the front opening and use it as a snorkel for fording those deep water holes in the Land Rover Chalange. LOL:D

I dont think this intake will go into production!! I forsee too many problems already, and like VIVIDRacing says, there is alot going on behind the skin of the front bumper

I don't like the fact that the openning is so low in the car. Getting water in my engine when I run through a puddle or 8" of water is not a good thing.

ANY one know if that is compatible of the valve in the front. You know we have a S-DAIS system that open valve after 5500 rpm. When you open the valve below that you will decrease the torque at low ranges. That is why they close it. The air intake from the after market will eliminate this function or it is actually in front of the air box so it does not matter? Anyone can answer this question?

first off i agree.it will not make production... plus that would be an ugly sight to see..a big tube running horizontally across the corner of the grill...plus there are way to many bends in the design....power could be lost at one of those bend points...

not if its mandrel bent. Why are you guys so hung up on this design between length and bends. once the filter is opened up it will definitely increase some HP and the water issue is easily taken care of with a bypass valve.

I have a cold air intake system for my 240SX and it makes the piping longer and put the air filter in the open air like this design. It has increased HP at least on the butt dyno and others that have the same have had it dyno tested with good results.

I'm not using THAT in Miami.....

now if I could turn it upwards and as Vivid said use it as a snorkel

I'm wondering if it will even fit the North American cars. Unlike Japan, we have a big bumper right there behind the grille. Does this go through where our bumpers are or does it run behind?

Nope, not impressed so far. But it is nice to see more and more products coming out!

have you ever tested a car with a bypass valve on..vs the pipe with it??? i used to have one...the bypass valve actually loses a little power opposed to just running without it...yea you will gain power with it regardless but not as much as you would if you ran with out it....

mandrel bending or not.."same sh!t...it still has to travel so far just to get throught the throttle...i mean look at it...its common sence...it just won't work...plus...plus even if it did work..which company do you know of actually makes pipes that long...and don't say aem..cause their cold air intakes are not that long....

for example..take two straws and put them together in a cup of water..vs...a short straw...which one is easier to get the water??

well my injen intake is pretty long and probably has an additional at least 2-3 feet of extra piping to place the filter out of the engine bay. Believe what you must and I guess your shorter "straw" might work better for you, but my longer "straw" works very well and I would rather get some colder air.
