Need Acceleration

I was just wanting to know what mods should I do to get more acceleration? I'm getting a turbo later this year but I need to get off the line faster now. I was told that gears would be a good start but don't know what kind or where online to find them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

The stock gear ratio in an RX-8 is 4.44, not much room for improvement there. If you are sure your going turbo there is no point in spending $$ on N/A mods that have little effect. This car was not designed to be a drag / off the line king. Save your money for the supporting mods to make your turbo run smooth.

i think i would mod my search button so it's more visible if I were you.

other than that, cobb accessport. bhr ignition and flywheel. some cat back or catless exhaust system and intake might help a little too. the gains are minimal, but noticeable especially with respect to the accessport.

accessport will give you the easiest and quickest hp. However, it isn't very cheap. But compared to a turbo, it's chump change.

Light wheels plus 12lb battery are options.

There's plenty of mistakes new RX8 owner do to their cars, follow Expo1's advise and save for that turbo or SC.

In the meantime there's not to many options for Aggresive Horsepower if not Turbo or SC

1. Optima Battery + BHR Ignition kit + Nology Wires + Ground Kit
2. Clutch & Flywheel Upgrade
3. Exaust + Intake + Midpide
4. Good Coilovers
5. Light Wheels
6. PWR Radiator
7. Pulleys

You'll experience a better ride, better response from stock , but if you really want to feel the diference go with a Turbo or SC. All the above mentioned is just my opinion you don't have to do these upgrades.

If your going Turbo/SC later best mod for money now would be High Flow Cat/Mid Pipe. If your going for more then 300 whp when FI then you would need Coils I would recommend BHR. The stock coils brand new drop out at 330 whp and if there worn like mine they only produce 240 whp then fail on you ;-)

^and upgraded P2 injectors
but wait to install these until you get your turbo/sc installed...it will need to be tuned with it

1. Optima Battery + BHR Ignition kit + Nology Wires + Ground Kit = $1000
2. Clutch & Flywheel Upgrade + AFE Short Shifter = $800
3. Exaust + Intake + Midpide = $1100
4. Good Coilovers = $1300
5. Light Wheels = $1200
6. BHR Radiator = $500
7. Pulleys = $200
8. Cobb AP = $700

Now this is a good basic set up for the RX8, add all this up and it's aproximate $6800, you will be faster than stock but it's best to get a good complete Esmeril / PTP / Type 2 Turbo Kit for $6000, you will get 400whp or more ...

Everyone has their opinion how they want to modify their cars, the owner needs to know exactly what he/she likes to get from them.
