Natural exhaust??
Hey guys, just going over a couple of things in my head, and being an ass as usual.
I was looking to get a new exhaust and was in quite a bind as I know a few of you are too. See, my problem is that I dont want to hear the "exhaust. Sounds ridiculous, I know, but let me explain. I removed my stock exhaust the other day (just the cat back) to see what kind of configuration I could make by following the the design of the stock piping. I started it up and almost bust a nut :boink:. That beautiful rotary sound emitting from my pipes is what I have been looking for. I come from a long line of rx7's of all generations, and hearing the sound of the engine despite exhaust configuration has always made me happy. It is such a great sounding engine, especially on the 8, but I feel like the exhausts that are out there do it no justice. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they don't sound good. I just feel that they come off as sounding more like a generic "piston engine" exhaust then the two rotor sex machine that is in there. SO, my point being is that I was wondering if anyone either has an exhaust or has heard of one that has that good ol' rotary sound. My idea for an exhaust like this would be either a high flow cat and straight pipes to a dual outlet and a couple resonators, or the same config, but with no cat and two more resonators. Let me know what you think! Cheers! |
Well lol , if you like the sound with just the midpipe on , why dont u cut off the flange on ur OEM catback and weld a straight pipe on there , add a y pipe for the pipes if u want and weld some tips? Its gonna be loud though. Mufflers are gonna change the tone , also different type of resonators will do this. I also liked the sound of just the midpipe on lol , but i have to disagree about sounding like a piston engine. I dont see how u can say that , sounds totally different >_>.

Im sorry, maybe that was a bit harsh. Not like a piston engine, but it does take away from the uniqueness (<-is that a word?) of the sound. I agree with you on liking the sound of the midpipe! :) But the woman goes crazy when she rides with me :spank:. Should I tell her to take the bus? Yea, probably. But then she might not like me. And I gotta admit, I do fancy her. |
Everyone knows the 8 is the one and only woman u ever need XD. Try looking up different exhaust set ups , one with headers , different mid pipes and cat back combos. Maybe you will like a certain combo. Im going with the exoticspeed r1-t catback , exoticspeed header , and agency power dual resonated midpipe. I can try to put some videos up of it if i can find a buddy with a camcorder. Or since you're in cali u can come check it out once it arrives :).

Yes! I would love to hear it in person. The youtube videos and tiny camcorder mic's don't do exhaust audio any justice. Exoticspeed is number 1 on my list if I were to go with something bought and ready to go. Borla is my 2nd choice. Are you getting it soon?

It's a decent price for the Espelir, I just wish I could find a sound clip. I never heard of them before. Im gonna keep huntin' for some sounds of it.

I ordered it already , just taking awhile since its on manufacturer backorder. I think it will be in around april 20+ or so. It sucks having stock exhaust again :(. Its just too quiet for my taste. But benefit is i can have a heavy foot at times and not grab cops attention :).

Did it actually arrive, or is it still discontinued?
Over the last few years I have come to the conclusion that the exhaust should match the characteristics of the engine. With a big piston engine, it is in character to have a loud deep exhaust. However, it is out of character to use those popular aftermarket exhausts for the renesis engine. They all deepen and lower the sound, with the effect of making the renesis sound like any other nissan 3.5 liter piston engine. A proper renesis exhaust should perform the following: 1. louder than stock 2. tame excessive raspiness 3. emphasize the high frequency rotary turbine sound 4. not have 4 inch "tuba sound" tips Originally I had to replace an exhaust's 4 inch tips with 2.5 inch due to excessive shroud melting. I would have gone larger, but 2.5 was all they had available and I was in temporary relocation without access to all the proper shops. Eventually I came to appreciate the proper balance that the 2.5 inch tips provide. 1.3l high revving lightweight engine. Something to consider. These days I see all those rx8 driving around, with deep sounding exhausts, and I keep thinking who are they kiddding making those 1.3l sound so big and heavy. |
^ lol ever hear a rotary without any muffling? Its raspy...most exhausts out right now do a pretty good job on keeping the rasp down. I dont know , i personally never heard any rotary sound like a nissan before , that would be interesting to hear haha....
