My New Toy (New Exhaust)....

Got this today. New JIC All Titanium Exhaust.

The muffler & tip part of the exhaust :

Front part of the C-Pipe. The opening is 2.5" to conform with the stock cat (& resonator) but opens to over 3" (actually 3.2") very quickly.

&

Entry into the muffler is 3," exiting out to the tips. Exits are 2 5/8"

Tips are over 4" large :

Overall the quality is outstanding on this kit. It is very light. Some of the literature said 9 lbs, but I think that was the generic despcription of all JIC Titanium products. This is quite a bit heavier than 9 lbs. I would say the total weight is probably closer to what Amuse claims, about 18 lbs. for the whole thing. The tip parts are about 1-2 lbs, the C-pipe is 2-3 lbs. at most. The muffler part is by far the most weight but I would be surprised if it weighed more than 12 lbs. Overall the stuff is just super light. I will be swapping my exhaust come Monday.

I am so jealous! Can you post a sound clip when you install it?

Moostafa29 07-21-2005 10:26 PM

Sweet. What made you decide to go with this one versus the RB you had before?

x-ped 07-21-2005 10:27 PM

Daym, thats the nicest exhaust i've seen. Wonder how it sounds. You better come to the next Malibu meet, I got some new toys too. :)

Fanman 07-21-2005 10:39 PM

Monday. I still have to shoot some shots of my C02 system working on my car. That is funny sh*t.

Wich 1 is Lighter Racing Beat or the one you just got.

rkostolni 07-21-2005 10:56 PM

How much was it?

IZoomZoomI 07-21-2005 11:03 PM

racing beat is heavier than the oem exhaust. Racing beats doesn't work with FI applications.

I am perfectly happy with the Racing Beat exhaust. Great sound, great look, but I just wanted a lighter exhaust.

OEM : 39 lbs.
RB : 49 lbs.
JIC Titanium : 18-19 lbs.

Only problem is this exhaust is 2X as expensive as a regular stainless steel exhaust. You gotta pay to play.

Racing Beat works with FI applications. It's not as if you car will stall out if you have a turbo & an RB exhaust. It's just that it wasn't designed with the turbo in mind. Neither are any of the major exhausts (Greddy, Borla, HKS, etc.). This one is probably designed for an NA RX8, but what can you do. I don't really want to wait for a "maybe" turbo exhaust, & I really don't want one of those single pipe racing units, no matter how light it is or how much hp gain it has vs. the twim tailpipe units.

don't you mean it loses velocity very quickly? ;)

3", 3.2", whatever, it's way overkill ...

XDEEDUBBX 07-22-2005 12:08 AM

nice fanman. Post a video clip as soon as you have a chance...

yeah shouldn't it gradually get smaller not the other way around?

Fanman 07-22-2005 12:42 AM

Never read where somebody wants to go with smaller piping. Always heard less backpressure, the better. If I go for more boost, I would want less backpressure, wouldn't I ? I would understand if it was a stock NA engine, but mine is not.

RX-Hachi 07-22-2005 01:28 AM

Wow, that's the kind of exhaust I've been dreaming about. Very envious. How much and where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking?

Fanman 07-22-2005 02:05 AM

Got it from www.rx8store.net from Jason. Had a good deal & no taxes because I am in Cali.

Velocity Rx8 07-22-2005 10:44 AM

Nice. But This exhoust dosent give you 12hp like in the ad im guessing. And wat High Flow Cat are u planning to get for it. I think you could pick up one of the JIC in www.Rx8.store.net jus look in exhoust.

$1,345.00

cleoent 07-22-2005 10:59 AM

jesus the rb exhaust weighs 10 pounds over the stock? Wtf where they thinking, the 2hp it gives you just got neutralized by adding 10 pounds...

I never said it did. Like I said in the opening post, it looks like a generic description. It doesn't weigh 9 lbs. either. I think you are really completely confused. JIC doesn't make a hi-flow cat. The cat. part comes before the exhaust & c-pipe (hence the term "Cat back exhaust). I had a hi-flow cat on my car before, it didn't play well with my turbo (backfiring problems), so it's gone now. I really got the JIC titanium cat back exhaust because I wanted to take a bit of weight off, & also the tips look really cool. I will let eveyone know how it sounds when I install it.

Just a very well made product. I wish it wasn't. That is the only hang up I had with their product. Quality, looks, sound are all top notch.

Velocity Rx8 07-22-2005 11:47 AM

Yea I think for the Weight and the sound couse i heard it before i think the price is worth it . If you are looking for a more racing car and are looking for lighter parts this is the exhoust. If you just want soind and dont care about weight go with the Rb. But this Exhoust Fanman Got is A nice 1 and worth every penny.

smrx8 07-22-2005 01:56 PM

I was thinking about going with the same exhaust to lose some pounds let me know how it sounds.

Nemesis8 07-22-2005 01:58 PM

Sweet Pipes - can't wait to hear your review.

Velocity Rx8 07-22-2005 02:46 PM

Well the Jic Stainless Steal Exhoust and Titanium Tips is lighter than The Racing Beat .

Im Guessing.
