mods within warranty?

So I've had my 8 for a few months now and love it. It is mostly a daily driver, but I do like to have fun with it. Are there basic mods that do not void warranty? I'm not interested in voiding the warranty on a car I just purchased. The mazdaspeed stuff seems to fit this bill, but i've read a few different things on here.

Which mazdaspeed mods are worth the $$ and do not void warranty?

As long as its install by a certified MS dealership, it shouldn't void your warranty. Do a search, or look on the MS website. Shouldn't be terribly difficult to find.

I had the RB suspension package, exhaust & SR hi-flow cat and the dealership didn't even look sideways. I think the only time they will have a serious issue is when you mess with the ECU, or if you damage the engine it can later be traced back to the mod.

I spoke to my dealership, specifically the service department manager, about this on thursday. I'll quote.

"We dont care what you throw on your car, a turbocharger, a blower, nitrous, it doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't cause the problem that you're bringing your car in for."

I asked him about specifically the RB Intake and whether he'd be pissed if I installed one:

"The only time we've voided a customer's engine warranty is when he installed a lightweight flywheel (*did not specify whether MS or SR or what) and he overrevved and blew his engine on the freeway"

Unfortunately I don't think all service managers have that same attitude.

I have the SR pulleys, SR intake, SR exhaust and midpipe; installed for over a year and a half now; and the service department never had a problem with it.

I spoke with my service manager also...and he said:

"ANY mod including intakes, midpipes or exhausts will void the warranty".
I asked specifically about the flywheel and he said he's not sure he'll get back to me (and never did).

Get a new dealer. Total crap. They can not void your warranty for these items. They have to prove that the installed product caused a malfunction.

sounds like this may be dealer dependent or that there is no standard? Either that or dealers are full of pooh.

That stinks, b/c who cares about the warranty until there is a problem, which is when you need it. But then they say "oh you put on xyz, which was cool when the car was fine, but btw is some how related to the problem you're having now, so is not covered under warranty, sorry do not pass Go and do not collect $200 either.

Sounds like the safest thing is to do only Mazdaspeed at certified MS dealers I guess?

btw which MS mods are best bang/$ the sways?
