ricey aftermarket TV??? Having a tv in ur car is riceY??? So what about those mercedez that have tv in them, or the z06 that have tv in them are they ricey 2? Having gadgets doesn't mean their ricey unless they don't look like they belong there.

Stickers should go, but the interior WOW! MOMO speakers, 7 in tv..alpine ammpsss ooOOO... aaHHHH!!!

sixspeed 07-18-2003 03:30 AM

I'm getting the Mazdaspeed kit. I've currently got a Winning Blue RX-8 on order.

All these pictures of black RX-8s though are making me change my mind. Does anyone know of any Mazdaspeed kitted RX-8s in blue that they can post pictures of/links to?

Might help me decide once and for all!

i really doubt that's outside your house (Hawaii), the link in the first post is a japanese located url. And I doubt anyone in the U.S. has a mazdaspeed kit slapped on to their RX8 right now.

ninedeep 07-24-2003 03:36 PM

I have my mazda speed kit on order but it wont be here for about another 45 days!!!

RX-Nut 07-26-2003 01:16 AM

If there is a Mazdaspeed 8 coming...

I know it's pure speculation, but I hate it when you buy something and months later they come out with something better.. Yes, it's inevitable, but still sucks..

So I ask.. if there is a Mazdaspeed RX-8 coming in the near future and it follows along the line of the Protege where it gets a factory turbo... How many of will try to see if you can have it installed in your 8?

Is it even possible to fit it in after the fact.. For example, can plain ol' Protege owners take their car in to Mazda and have them slap in the Mazdaspeed turbo?

Hmmm...

Sputnik 07-26-2003 02:47 PM

While I don't know if all of the parts for the Mazdaspeed Protege' are readily available to the US consumer (as in, you might have to jump through some hoops to get all of the items), the setup was designed so that few parts were changed as possible. For example, the engine is internally the same (cams, pistons, compression, etc.), which is why the boost is relatively low, and the power gain is relatively low. If one could source the parts, they could make their own Mazdaspeed Protege'.

But we don't know what the "Mazdaspeed RX8" will come with. We don't know for sure that it will ever arrive, or if it will be "stillborn". We do know that they were working on a true sequential manual transmission (similar to Toyota MR2 Spyder, BMW M3, Ferrari 360, etc. etc.). That tranny change will require an ECU change and interior mods, among other things, so it will be a VERY involved and difficult upgrade. But that depends on when it comes.

And if the HP increase is done with an increase in displacement, then you will obviously have to be changing out practically the whole engine bay.

Bahahahahah, 10k?? OK, if you think so.

JL Amps, MAYBE 2k MAX!
Speakers, maybe another grand, not even.
HU WAY less than 1k, but let's be overstated at 1k.

So we're at 4...and we've overestimated like crazy. So...with a 6 grand margin for install and other crap I doubt they spent anywhere near 10k.

10k maybe if they used real amps (Zapco) and some crazy speakers (Focal, Image Dynamics, Illusion) but they didn't.

P.S. This wasn't rip on you, just to let others know they could do the same for way under 10....

blizz81 07-31-2003 11:34 AM

10k maybe if they used real amps (Zapco)
EASY there, new JL amps aren't anything to shake a stick at :) 1000/1? They might be more consumer-levelish than zapco but they are still impressive...but yeah, not in a "10k" system :)

the car looks alright, pretty sensible :) I need to do more searching around, that's the first hu install I've seen on an 8, and was wondering about those kind of options.

Efini 8 07-31-2003 04:40 PM

Doesnt ZAPCO make the most powerful amplifier on the market? I heard its mad crazy and it cant be used on any subwoofer because the subwoofer technology cannot handle the mass power of their amps. ZAPCO are used in a lot of competitions, I have ZAPCO, never had a single problem, great amp!

Beautiful car Asura! Will you be getting aftermarket wheels anytime soon? I think black wheels would make your car even hotter!

I am wishing that we can meet on the Japanese road, some day.
Where are you going 8's day? :D

Mazdaspeed RX-8 in 3 years

I was talking to my friend today at Mazda. He's a service advisor at the local dealship. I was trying to pump him for information about the missing hp, but was no help in that department. Anyway, he told me that a Mazdaspeed rep last week talked to them about upcoming products. He said that next year, Mazdaspeed will release their Miata, then Mazdaspeed 6 (a twin-turbo 340 hp beast) and then the Mazdaspeed 8. No rumor on what kind of f/i it will be though.

Who knows what the truth is, but it may be a while before you see a production Mazdaspeed 8.

I don't buy this, I thought it would be AWD turbo ~270 hp. I don't think they'd have a Mazda6 faster than a Mazdaspeed 8 or the next RX-7, it's just dumb.

TiRX8 08-27-2003 10:35 PM

Maybe Mazda will suck people in AGAIN and tell us it has 400hp when it will only have 250hp!! :p

just so we're clear (and to keep you from being a smartass next time), i didn't make up the story. i solely repeated what i was told. it may be wishful thinking on their part though.

donald121 08-28-2003 12:53 PM

I'm just hardly believe any words say by a local dealer person. They are the last person to know what happen. Anyways, Napboy, thanks for telling us. I hope it's not a rumor.

MrWigggles 08-28-2003 01:33 PM

Truth of life #254:

Dealer's "facts" are as good as most people's rumors. Dealer's rumors should be ignored completely.

Elara 08-28-2003 02:28 PM

Hmm..I was under the impression the Mazdaspeed Miata would be out late this year, specifically in December. Am I remembering something wrong?

wakeech 08-28-2003 03:43 PM

...i heard it from a friend of a friend of mine... in this case, a sales associate at a local dealer who claims to have heard it from a Mazdaspeed sales rep. greeeeat... we all know how helpful, reliable, and realistic these guys are.

Napboy 08-28-2003 03:51 PM

i never claimed i believed him. i'm just reporting what he said.

no one is trying to be rude, but since i joined the forum over a year ago there's been plenty of similar rumours (in their vagueness and relitive untrustworthiness) , and it's just natural that stories when coming from an unknown, and probably unreliable source are scrutinized. as i said, no one's trying to be an ass about it.

If this car really out in the market, it will take away a lot of sales from STi and Evo. :D

MS_Renesis 10-02-2003 05:12 PM

Quality of Mazdaspeed parts?

I recently purchased my RX8 and Im starting to upgrade the parts, I saw that Mazdaspeed sells products for alot of $$$, are their parts worth the $$$ or are there other aftermarket suppliers that I can by off of that are better?

Pulsr 10-02-2003 05:57 PM

mazdaspeed is probably going to have more research on any mazda compared to any company out there... i mean just look at the name :P, will there stuff be the fastest? probably not... but will it be one of the betters i would hope so :P

ninedeep 10-02-2003 06:01 PM

MazdaSpeed's quality is awesome! You get your moneys worth!
I have had enough exposure around MazdaSpeed products with their MSProtege and from the parts that I have installed on my 8, to recognize that everything is nothing but top quality when it comes to their R&D.:D

Lock & Load 12-25-2003 04:55 PM

Why no answers on maxda speed rx8??

Will mazda make the tune up parts available to early owners of the underpowered rx8.

Why is this model only available in japan and not all other markets and why in such limited numbers ?

Mazda has certainly screwed its most faithfull loyal buyers by selling a good but if some what underpowered rotary ,

The mazdaspeed version is what the original rx8 should have been in the 1st place i certainly wont be a customer for any future underpowered and lied about power figures from mazda .

shame mazda shame your customers wont be so gullable or loyal for your next models .

michael:

Lock & Load 12-25-2003 05:45 PM

Before the RX8 was released all the supposed power output numbers were trumpetted by mazda 250HP in the U.S and 184KW in Australia
.(As we all found out this was a lot of BULL SHIT)

Now that the MAZDASPEED RX8 TYPE S IS coming to japan how come no output figures are being released ???

MAZDA why dont you come to the party and be honest for once.???

michael
