Mazdaspeed exhaust
any one runninfg the MS exhaust system.. I want an upgrade but not a loud one ! :)
|
I am.
It is not loud at all; barely any difference between the stock exhaust and MS exhaust. Only reason why I purchased it was to keep my 8 all "Mazdaspeed" except for the intake... Also, try a search on this, you'll find more info. |
i did search on it but no one but you is runing the MS..
Do you like it ? it looks excatly like the stock set up .. Deos it at least sound diffrent ? |
It has differant tips, but I doubt it has more than a 1 whp gain.

yea same tips they just say Mazdaspeed on them right ?
|
yea im getting it installed tomorrow =) cortc has it too. from what i hear (no pun intended) its suppose to be the same look just has a stainless look sticks out more and not as loud as any or the aftermarket exhausts out there. post reviews tomorrow... =)

great.. cant wait..
|
Ive had it since January and i love it...it adds a nice tone to the car and not too loud at all...i dont notice it unless i am really accelerating hard.
|
Tips are EXACTLY the same size.
As mentioned, if there is any sound it is under WOT and then it is barely noticeable. If you're looking for sound, don't bother. If you're looking for HP gains, don't bother. If you're looking for all Mazdaspeed parts (like me), then purchase it. That about sums it up. IMO, I probably would have gone for the HKS for sound and quality... I've got a pic here: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...threadid=24258 It's not much but it shows you the tip... |
Louder than stock, just drive through a parking garage and see... Nice deep tone and really sounds nice under WOT... This is what our sports car should sound like... Flows better, according to my research should be good for about 5-7 HP gain with 1-2 pounds torque... Add intake MS air filter 2-5 and flywheel 7-12, then some MS spec plugs and a little ECU calibration and you should be at around 250+HP at the crank... I will be doing a dyno run with mine soon and should be at around 205-215HP @ rear wheels...

Got mine installed today pretty simple to install need a lot of lube though. The tips are a little thicker than stock same size and is slanted. Sound wise sounds great like above under wot and with the windows open. But I really like how the stock sounded and I thinked the exhaust brought it out a lil more.

A guy i know at mazda here in uk said u should get 12 HP gain! Not sure about torque. A friend says u should also upgrade intake filter, according to MS web site these are now available
|
thats got to be major bull shit.. even uncorked with a header only i bet you would not see 12 hp gain..
|
Well with current mods she put out 208... Will post details later on new thread...

An update from me...
I recently went back to factory intake. To be honest, I don't hear anything with the MS exhaust. It is quiet as can be. Maybe I was just used to the K&N intake "growl" but I don't hear any type of sound from the exhaust. :( |
well isn't the k&n filter suppose to be real loud? And if it is i'm not surprised being since you got use to a certain volume. I don't have the k&n and can tell the slight difference in the note when I changed mine.
|
That might be true. I did have my exhaust for a couple of weeks before I put in the K&N. Maybe I did get used to the sound of the intake because my 8 seems REALLY quiet. Oh well, it'll never sound like a V8 so that's okay... ;)
|
yeah when I went through all those video clips I made my gf pick one and she pick the mazdaspeed :D
