Mazdaspeed exhaust is pretty good, but it is not considered "inexpensive" as aftermarket cat back exhausts go. The quality of the unit is top notch, the tip is just a bit bigger than stock, and smaller than the other aftermarket units. In general, the most popular cat back exhaust units are Racing Beat, Greddy, & Borla. All quite good. Just depends on how deep & loud you want the sound. Very little hp gain from ANY cat back exhaust system.

the MS exhaust is nice but it is a waste of money.

mazdaspeed is very nice. no cat-back will void your warranty.

I suggest searching the board for sound clips of each of these exhausts. you can find plenty of examples here.
