Magnecor plug wires
 

For anyone that may be interested, Magnecor now has a plug wire set available for the RX-8. The part number is 45435. I would guess that the price is around $50.00.

Know anywhere you can get them???

They are nice wires, and work well on my 3rd gen. You have to "burp" the plug boots when you press them on the plugs. Take a paper clip and bend it straight with only one loop left. Insert straight part into plug boot (same end as plug goes into), put plug boot on plug. Trapped air will leak by the clip wire, then you pull it out. It's a bit awkward but I do it all the time. Otherwise, the trapped air will not let you push the boot all the way onto the plug. Not good, as the connection may be left open and arcing. That will destroy the wires. I also use silicone clear dielectric grease around the plug insulator/boot interface. This makes it much easier to get off later.

If you look at the plug wires, you may notice they do not touch or pass through any parts. I doubt fancy wires will help, other than look cool.

Well I know Magnecor makes 8.5mm and 10mm wires. Not sure about which/or both will be available. Is there advantage of having one size over the other and vice versa?

They actually make the RX-8 wires in 7, 8, and 8.5mm. The part number posted is for the 8.5mm.

Magnecor makes some EXCELLENT plug wires. Best part is they last damn near forever - put them on, don't worry about it again :).

You likely won't see any power gains with them - the stock wires (if they're anything like the stock NGK wires on the RX-7) are actually pretty damn good.

Magnecors are just incredibly well built, rugged, and do the job. The only difference going to another size is more outer insulation on the wire - that's it. I have the 10mm in my 10th Anniversary because it was only like $5 more and looks cooler :).
